Brees calls scandal 'a big shock

NFL.com news: Bounty? What bounty? Brees calls scandal 'a big shock'

Danno 03-16-2012 06:56 PM

Gawd he so full of crap.

QBREES9 03-16-2012 07:07 PM

LOL ! Tell it Danno.

How does he not know. He and SP are soooo close that I am sure that if he didn't know what was happening in his locker room, at least he was dropped a line by the upper brass.

I'm not concerned with any of this though, it will all go away soon enough...

ChrisXVI 03-16-2012 08:56 PM

Shut up Drew. One month ago I would have never ever thought that I would sour on Drew. Now, he's looking like a tool.

ChrisXVI 03-16-2012 08:59 PM

And furthermore... stop making appearances on Ellen and sign your damn contract you greedy bastard.

So basically I either have to believe that:

A) Drew is a liar

or

B) Drew actually has no idea what is going on in his locker room.

(there is always wildcard C: The whole thing is a major exaggeration of the facts by Goodell, but I find that unlikely.)

Damn, you guys are hard on a brother! Fact is, no one knows everything yet. I'll reserve my judgement on any of these guys until all the facts are made public. Until then, I'm not bashing anyone, except that POS Gregg Williams. ;-)

I'm not bashing him, I'm saying that there is literally no way that not one of those 2 things is true. (unless the pay-for-injury allegations turn out to be untrue)

I said it before...

If a player walked into the locker room with 10K. Puts it on the table... word would fly through the locker room and not a player in the locker room wouldn't go see it and want to know what is it there for.

The Dude 03-16-2012 11:01 PM

What the hell is he supposed to say "Yea we did it, I personally put up 10k to knock the **** out of Farve. I was so sick of Farve watch I couldnt take it anymore" and throw his team mates and team under the bus during an investigaton. Seriously some of you guys put Brees on a pedistol expecting him to be "Breesus". Some people had have/ had and unhealthy relationship with this QB. Hes human. There is not a person in this room that wouldnt do the same thing regarding bounty gate and the contract situation. Expecting a player to give up a couple million dollars just for the sake of the team is unreal. If you guys had an opportunity to bargain with your boss for more money you would do it in a heart beat. all this bashing is a hell of a way to treat a player that took the team out of the toilet and brought us a Super Bowl, not to mention all the good things he has done for the community.

I understand your point, I really do. Often I try to push back against the grain by pushing too hard. I felt Drew went way overboard during the CBA negotiations and I think he (or his agent) is asking for more than his value.

I have no problem with Drew demanding what he's worth. I think, based on the history of Mickey Loomis, that we did indeed offer that to him... twice.

When he says he doesn't want to play under the tag because he might get hurt, thats absolutely no different than playing out the final year of his contract this past year. I call BS on that.

He's the one who didn't want to work out a long term deal last year. I personally think because his 21 picks probably gave the Saints a bit of leverage and he wanted to improve his value with a better season.

As far as the backlash against some of his actions go, most of us are fans of the team first, then the player. I'm sure some feel as I do that the team has made a fair offer (again twice) and he not only said it wasn't enough, but that we were 5 million per season too low. WTF??? I call BS on that too.

If I'm Loomis, I probably cave a little, but not much at all. We have most of the leverage with the tag. Every year that goes by reduces his overall value.

He's losing money being tagged. Last year convinced me it doesn't have as much to do with the risk of playing under the tag as much as it has to do with his stock dropping each year.

Just my own feelings about the issue. He's still one of my favorite players ever, but I'm convinced that off the field he's not any different than Joe Sixpack.
