ha... when I first looked at it I was like.... what did I miss... but then I realized someone edited the page and the mods hadn't gone over it yet.

He could if ever all of the potential and apparent skill, because of which they picked him out of the draft, should materialize into performances on the field.

After the season ended, they began the negotiations again, but Brees' side turned down the $18M/yr on average contract apparently wanting a $5M/yr raise to that figure and a front-loaded contract on top of that.

So, I would not say that the Saints dropped the ball on Brees' contract negotiations by waiting too long to get it done, because it wasn't really something that they had full power over in the first place.
