I have a feeling...

That San Fran is going to end up with Manning. I hope I am wrong, for multiple reasons. Something about them popping into the mix at the last minute, and now, with Alex Smith in Miami, it just makes me think it's going down like that.

I have always pulled for the Mannings. If Payton ends up in San Fran, that will change. It would almost be as bad as if he ended up in Atlanta. Almost.

Danno 03-18-2012 02:49 PM

ITS GONNA SUCK.

Hopefully it ends up like Philly's dream team nightmare last year.

If Manning plays like he did before the neck surgeries, they're(49ers) going to be tough this year.

I'm still feeling the Titans though, they did offer him a "lifetime" contract. Whatever that means...

It would have to be 7 years.

Titans offered him a FO position when his career is over.

What kind of FO position?

An ambassador/PR position to the Titans at 100.00/year for the rest of his life?

NOLA54 03-18-2012 03:39 PM

I thought that weasel Harbaugh was happy with alex smith?

He would be one heck of a OC!

FinSaint 03-18-2012 04:35 PM

I'm really thinking that he ends up in Denver, although I don't really have any concrete reasons for justifying my belief.

gandhi1007 03-18-2012 05:18 PM

Manning to Moss is a nasty, nasty combination. I really hope this doesn't happen.

SloMotion 03-18-2012 05:30 PM

Peyton goes to SFran. Any post-career job offer from Tennessee will still be there when he retires, and from a lot of other teams as well.

IDK, I think there will be a huge clashing of egos there with Harbaugh, Manning, Moss.

It's Harbaugh's team, is Manning going to be able to handle that? Peyton's been doing it his way for a long time. I see all kinds of conflict there as both fight it out to be the alpha male.

Manning might just be the calming influence Moss needs, but with both Harbaugh & Manning 'mentoring' him, I think he rebels. It's just his nature.

Of course, winning solves a lot of problems, but there still will be plenty of TMZ moments.

mikesaintfan 03-18-2012 05:36 PM

now they got Manningham...2 good WR's...Vernon Davis...Frank gore and a great defense...plus warm weather and a crappy division

73Saint 03-18-2012 05:44 PM

Slomo, I think you make a good point. I initially thought no way Manning's personality meshes well with harbaby. But still, the fact that they made a "secret" trip to work him out, with the volatility that is Alex Smith, it's just all making me a little uneasy.

And perhaps, the crappiest field in the NFL.

Not for long though... I mean their plans are to move to the new stadium for the 2014 season.

I think Manning is there (SFran), and they (Harbaugh, Manning, Moss) all think they have enough experience & professionalism to make it work, and if it does, they'll be hard to beat ... but what happens if Manning starts changing the plays and veers from Harbaugh's game plan? How much preaching/motivation from Harbaugh/Manning can Randy Moss take before he snaps?

It'll be interesting to see if Manning can take a back seat to Harbaugh, that's for sure.

He needs a top notch line to protect him. Who's got the best one out of these teams?

Fine for whomever the QB is then.

Manning may only have a year or two left.

I think we can all agree that his forehead is an unstoppable force, or an irresistible object.

The rest of him?

Tennessee, then SFran, but mostly Tennessee ... plus there's some restaurant in TN offering Peyton lifetime pancakes if he signs ... IDK, if it were me, that offer would have pushed it over the top,

Yeah, and it was neither here nor there anyway, so I apologize for my mild case of OCD, which makes me a stickler for details. http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...nks/wink-3.gif

I think he's going to wind up seriously compounding his neck injuries by continuing to play, but since he's obviously not listening to me, I'll just entertain the thought that maybe he'll be alright ... he does have that imposing forehead after all ...

73Saint 03-18-2012 06:45 PM

I think his neck is fine. He had a full year off, to heal, work out, study, game plan, focus, whatever. He will be fine for at least three or four more years.

TheOak 03-18-2012 06:46 PM

I agree.... How man times has a 35 year old player recovered FULLY from an injury that caused them to miss an ENTIRE season......

We are talking about neck and nerve not muscle and bone.

Besides.... we put Manning down is his prime... in prime time.... we actually pout them both down in their prime.... I am not worried a bit about him.

All joking aside, I hope he does no long term damage to himself.

He can still walk away. Anything after he steps foot on the field again is something he decided to allow.

True dat!! That run of QB's that we went through in 09...Warner, Favre then Manning....That will go down as one, if not THE strongest group of QB's one team has ever plowed through (or bountied through), in the history of the NFL!!!

TheOak 03-19-2012 06:58 AM

Neither QB's nor Defenses scare me..... Teams with hard running games and top 10 recievers with speed and enough ht to burn us have been our Kryptonite.

Untill our new D-Coordinator has proven we can tackle and contain.... this will still worry me more than any QB.

SloMotion 03-19-2012 07:14 AM

I'm not looking at it from the angle of being able to beat Peyton or not, though with a QB that can throw the ball, a few good receivers & already having that defense, SFran will be hard to beat, I'm just thinking about Manning seriously injuring himself.

In '91, we had Mike Utely carted off the field with a life-changing spinal cord injury. It was a terrible thing to see, I don't want to see something similiar happen to Peyton.

Neck/spinal cord injuries are not something to mess with.

Choupique 03-19-2012 07:18 AM

Never liked the Mannings. They're a bunch of spoiled brat yuppies. I don't give a chit where he ends up. Seriously, I could care less. Peyton is a whiner.

SaintsBro 03-19-2012 10:23 AM

I think if Peyton goes to San Fran they will end up being a lot like the Vikings in 09 with Favre. Seriously good team, with everyone fawning all over their jock, good but a bit overhyped, but not ultimately good enough to go the distance and really win the whole thing, and then they're a shambles a year or two later. Or like the Jets with Favre, before that. Whatever you think of him, Peyton Manning is a journeyman WIN NOW quarterback option, 1 or 2 years at the most, and maybe not able to go all the way.

I'm kinda' seeing the comparison, but was the '09 Vikings defense as good as SFran's? That's what makes me think they could do it, combined with acquiring Moss/Manning & their run game, they've pretty much covered all bases.

IDK, that offer from Tennessee looks awful good though, I'm almost thinking SFran is going to lose the bidding war ... 5yrs/$90mil from Denver isn't anything to sneeze at either ... ol' Peyton, it's nice having options,

So I guess it's time for me to gloat now... http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...ng-fun-054.GIF

But seriously, I wonder how much of an affect Elway had on Manning apparently choosing Denver over the other teams?

I couldn't be happier to eat crow as I am now....

http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...oticon-032.gif ... we're not worthy! ...

I think Elway had everything to do with it, him and Peyton are cut from the same cloth and Peyton will be able to do his thing in Denver ... thought for sure SFran was setting the table for Manning ... oh well, it wouldn't have worked out between Harbaugh/Manning anyway & Moss would have just been an added distraction ... Denver's less then stellar offensive line has just become a huge issue ...
