Ted Ginn Jr ( NO REALLY )

Seriously, He would be a dirt cheap replacement for Meachem, Adrian Arrington really hasn't earned the job yet and Joe Morgan is still looked at as a phenom from last years preseason hasn't proven that he can be consistent ( mostly because he didn't make the team I think he's gonna be great) Ginn could battle for Meachem's old role, and also add depth to the kick returner positions since Roby probably won't be back.

pass...

mikesaintfan 03-19-2012 06:31 AM

pass...we need WR's who can catch...not him

Rugby Saint II 03-19-2012 12:45 PM

Receivers are not where we need to focus. Maybe we could upgrade the defense. Namely DT and LB'er!!!

|Mitch| 03-19-2012 01:19 PM

Wasn't it already announced that Arrington and/or Morgan will get first chance to fill Meachems spot?

TheOak 03-19-2012 01:34 PM

Screw first chances...... level playing field. If Kasay beats out Arrington for reciever then so be it.

|Mitch| 03-19-2012 01:37 PM

what I meant was; there isn't any point in bringing in Ginn when they think we already have the replacement on the roster...

TheEnigma 03-19-2012 01:54 PM

No

ChrisXVI 03-19-2012 07:01 PM

The Saints don't sign WR free agents.

Speedy Ron 03-20-2012 12:06 PM

NO....really

228jits 03-20-2012 12:14 PM

Ginn is a good pickup... for Cleveland or Jacksonville... Not here, not where we have "real" sure handed recievers...

Semantics, we signed him in his rookie year, before the season. Technically he worked out with Cleveland for a couple months before we picked him up.

So you're saying he was a free agent.;)

jeanpierre 03-20-2012 07:10 PM

Ted Ginn? Are you serious?

Unless Joe Morgan goes totally dipschiott - we've got the next guy to step up...

Free Agents, while any upgrade is great, needs are...

Defensive Tackle, End, Linebacker, maybe another Offensive Tackle (but the best one left Texas and has signed with the Chiefs...

Also that was in 2005. Pre-Payton, Pre-Brees, Pre-RBL. If we are counting that, we may as well count Albert Connell

Or perhaps we consider that we were 5 deep in quality receivers and the necessity to acquire a free-agent WR ranked just below replacing Drew Brees as our QB.;)

OK semantics police lol... I'm not talking about undrafted free-agents. Those are exactly the kind of WR's we go after. The Saints don't sign veteran WR free-agents.

FinSaint 03-20-2012 09:12 PM

I wouldn't consider Moore to be a FA signing, since he was an UDFA, he was more like a rookie signing.

Technically yes, but not in the sense of traditional FA pick ups.

Because we haven't needed to in 6 plus seasons?

Having Colston, Meachem, Henderson and Moore on the team kinda negates the need to go out and sign a free-agent WR doesn't it?

QBREES9 03-20-2012 10:53 PM

Stone hands, as a kick returner yeah but a WR NO !

|Mitch| 03-21-2012 01:15 AM

we don't even need a kick returner, we have Mr. Sproles!

Yeah, and going out and signing a FA WR to be the #4 WR behind Colston, Moore, and Henderson, and/or the #6 overall receiver with Sproles and Graham added into the mix, shouldn't really be even on the table because there are so many other needs that need to be addressed.
