Fans Support Rally at Championship Square?

I think, that we as fans, should stand up and send a big "screw you" to Goodell, and the NFL as a whole! Why not form a rally at Championship square? A big ol' festival of Saints fans, who are NOT HAPPY with this and are ready to show just how much! I think this is a good idea, and it will show the rest of the football world that we won't go quietly..... Is there anyway to make this happen?

If it happens, I will be there, no doubt about it!

Papa Voodoo 03-21-2012 02:48 PM

I'm in. Let's do it. I think the team had a fire lit under it today that is going to suprise all of the Skip Bayless's out there all season.

arsaint 03-21-2012 02:49 PM

Someone needs to print a T-shirt slamming Goodell and sell 70000 of them for opening day.

Guck Foodell should do. I'll be there in spirit.

SaintPauly 03-21-2012 02:51 PM

Still a long time till the season starts.... I'm thinking we as fans need to show a strong support for our team right now.... Would love to see the reaction on ESPN, when they see they might knock us down, but they will never keep us down!

alleycat_126 03-21-2012 02:54 PM

The best way to say F%&* you Rodger is to win. And not just win, win it all. This year.

papz 03-21-2012 02:55 PM

A whole bunch of drunk angry fans in one spot... not sure that's a great idea.

SaintPauly 03-21-2012 02:56 PM

I agree Alley. My idea, is to also show the team, that we are not waivered on our loyalty.... And papz.... That happens in the French Quarter everytime we lose.... lmao

Marlboro Man 03-21-2012 05:34 PM

I'll be coming down pretty soon so if it's around that time then I'm in. I've already said we should get T-Shirts made. Black shirts with a bright yellow hand flipping the bird and saying This one's for you Goodell, WHO DAT, *****. I'll even design them and print them if everyone's interested in doing it. I think we should wear them all year long and at all the games for the entire season and maybe even next season when GOD-dell takes our second 2nd rounder too all year for two years.

ChrisXVI 03-21-2012 05:38 PM

This would make us look ignorant. Our organization had every chance to prevent this and they didn't do it. I get being mad at Goodell, I really do... But come on guys, get real.

SaintPauly 03-21-2012 05:40 PM

You can be involved for whichever reason suits you. I think it's a good idea to show support for our team. What should we do, hide under a rock?

ChrisXVI 03-21-2012 05:41 PM

The people that run our team did this to us.

SaintPauly 03-21-2012 05:43 PM

So what are you saying Chris? We should all become fans of other teams? I've been a Saint too long to just quit. I don't agree with any of this. I like old school, hard hitting, stretcher football. It's wrong by "today's standards".... Not by old school rules.... Not even close....

WestBankbOrn 03-21-2012 05:47 PM

I agree we need to support our team and our head coach. I've already ordered 3 of these.... Jesus Loves The Saints Who Dat T shirt

Touché.

ChrisXVI 03-21-2012 05:48 PM

Do we live in 1972? Nope, it's 40 years later and what we did was against the rules. I'm not saying become a fan of another team... But don't blindly support the fact that our head coach and GM blatantly ignored Goodell's warnings 2 years ago when they first started this investigation. There's nothing to protest. We fu***d up.

SaintPauly 03-21-2012 05:58 PM

I understand that Chris, but don't you reallize, that the more we let the league change things, and don't protest, legal or not, it won't be long before the game is so far gone, that none of us are even interested anymore? They are trying to turn the NFL into the CFL, or arena league. I don't watch either one of those, because I am a fan of great, hard hitting defenses. You take away the defense of the 85 Bears, the Niners dynasty's, the Steel Curtain.... and many, many more, and you re-write the history of the game. I don't support these rules, legal or not, and will not, no matter what year it is. We broke the rules, yes, but I still support this team, and honestly found nothing wrong with anything they did. You gotta take a stand at some point, for what you believe in.

Good luck with that. Times are changing my friend. To quote Charles Darwin, "In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment."

SmashMouth 03-21-2012 06:46 PM

Can you invite Goodell so that the fans can really tell him how they feel?

It's okay with me if you do.

Why? For being realistic?

Budsdrinker 03-21-2012 07:04 PM

For the league claiming to know about this for 3 years and not do something then and just drop the hammer today makes them hypocritical. So for 2 years they turned their backs but after the 3rd year they decide to try and take away the 2012 season from the Saints fans with suspending the head coach and prevent us from being the first team to play in a superbowl in their home stadium is just BS! We will rise above this crap and stick it to Goodell and his ego trip.

For accepting what the league is doing to our team as if it is necessary and just. Do you honestly think this would be the response if a large market team was involved?

ChrisXVI 03-21-2012 07:38 PM

Ok dude. You're right, I'm wrong. Payton and Loomis publicly admit that they were wrong for doing this stuff... So I'm wrong for saying that they are being punished accordingly.

Remove you face from Goddells crack and wipe your nose off for a second. If you consider "punished accordingly" is what we got, you have problems.

I'll throw one name out..Harrison. How many times has he been fined for unnecessary ruffness?? He has single handily knocked more players out of games than our entire defense has EVER! Yet he is still playing.

The problem is the hypocricy of Goddells punishments. Do we deserve to get punished, absolutely! TO be so stupid to keep a record of illegal activities you know are against the rules is dumbfounding beyond words. BUT to put us at a competitive disadvantage is unjust!

TheDeuce 03-21-2012 11:13 PM

Gotta back ChrisXVI on this one. We knew what we were doing was wrong, Payton even sent emails trying to cover it up, telling coaches what to say to investigators. He knew it was wrong, we kept doing it, got busted, and now we're receiving the penalties. Is it harsh? Sure. Could it have been a lot worse? Sure. Like I said in another thread, I'm glad we didn't lose an entire draft because of this. Losing a coach and a GM is a challenge, but we still have the #1 offense in the NFL.

And yes, I understand the hypocrisy of it considering most other teams have probably been doing the same thing. But in the NFL, you can do whatever you want as long as you don't get caught. We got caught, can't blame anybody for that. Time to be a bunch of men, take our whippin', and come back in September ready to light the league on fire. If this isn't a source of motivation, our players must be dead.

Brandon428 03-21-2012 11:50 PM

What I think we should do is make a Payton shirt and send all the proceeds to Sean Payton. Or we can get the who dat nation to all make donations to a charity paypal to make up for Payton’s loss of salary. If everyone donated a dollar or 2 we could really give him a good chunk of money. To me nothing more would shove it in the NFL’s face than if Sean still got paid!

NOS2SB 03-22-2012 12:35 AM

this is football. anyway you slice it players are getting paid (big $$) to hit other players. i don't see how you go out there to hit someone as hard as you possibly can without the mentality to hurt his a**. goodell is simply power hungry and wants to make this his league. every team is involved in a "bounty" because they have players that get paid millions of dollars to go out there on the field and hit another player. It's called football.

NOS2SB 03-22-2012 12:37 AM

Wanna know what would be awesome? We go to the SB and Goodell comes to the dome to watch and we boo the sh*t out of his ass every time they show him on the big screen.
