Tracy Porter - Denver Broncos - 2012 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

Not a hugh loss in my opinion, but he gave us some good years.

73Saint 03-22-2012 08:18 PM

Ironic that he will be playing with Manning now

saintsfan1976 03-22-2012 08:20 PM

Tracy "The Pick" Porter.

Thanks for a few good seasons.

|Mitch| 03-22-2012 08:21 PM

Not a huge loss, but we might could have used him as depth in the secondary. Especially with the unknowns of Goodells player penalties...

Apparently he wasn't a priority to Spags or Flajole; oh well...

Srgt. Hulka 03-22-2012 08:22 PM

Thanks for the Superbowl victory Tracy. It's been fun.

papz 03-22-2012 08:25 PM

Maybe he'll learn a thing or two from Champ and become a more consistent corner. Good luck to him and who knows... we might see a new and improved Tracy Porter in the black and gold next year.

Choupique 03-22-2012 08:27 PM

I'd rather of kept porter than some of the disloyal, whiney fans we have. :/

lynwood 03-22-2012 08:34 PM

1yr contract doesn't show much confidence either. He's gonna have to prove himself there.

|Mitch| 03-22-2012 08:36 PM

I just noticed thats 1 yr/4mil...

overpaid by just a little?

Those whiney fans don't count towards the cap.

The Saints just couldn't afford to pay a nickel or a dime CB $4M/yr - that being said, I hope Porter has a good season with the Broncos, so that he'll be able to get a long term contract come next off-season.

neugey 03-22-2012 08:43 PM

Good luck Porter!

LBCutta 03-22-2012 08:46 PM

Overpaid.....and he'll be hurt by week 4....see ya

burningmetal 03-22-2012 09:08 PM

I'll miss him because of the huge plays he made, intercepting Favre and Manning in the playoffs. With all do respect to all the great players on our team that year, without Porter we might not have held on in the Super Bowl, and we may not have even gotten there.

But aside from a decline in his play recently, he has never been able to stay healthy, so while it would have been nice to keep him in some role, it just wouldn't have made much sense financially to pay a backup that kind of money.

arsaint 03-22-2012 09:11 PM

Wonder if this means one less defensive player suspended half or all of the season???

No, by a lot.

W. Kovacs 03-22-2012 09:23 PM

Hate to see him go.

I hope he has a good season...except for the week we play against him. :)

QBREES9 03-22-2012 09:38 PM

st thomas 03-22-2012 09:42 PM

he did his time here and helped us to a superbowl but in my opinion hes preatty much done. injury prone per hit basis. i had loss confedence in the guy, just my opinion. maybe he'll rebuild his confedence in afl

Rugby Saint II 03-22-2012 09:42 PM

22 to the house......sweet. Thanks man.

QBREES9 03-22-2012 09:45 PM

saintsfan601 03-22-2012 11:44 PM

Good luck 22. Thanks for the memories.

MatthewT 03-23-2012 01:20 AM

Hate to see him go, but he has been a bit injury prone. Hope he has a nice and healthy rest of his career, I wish him nothing but the best.

Crusader 03-23-2012 01:46 AM

Don't like this one bit. I feel he is a good CB that we could have use for but I guess it all comes down to the $$$.

True Dat. Hopefully for him, he won't be one of the soon to be suspended players. Maybe that is why he only got a one year contract.

st thomas 03-23-2012 09:02 AM

how many more do we have left to sign, or should i say how many more want out. no i should;nt say that because i'm pissed. if they want to leave thats there right. thanks porter don't beat up on manning in practice to much.

BINGO. I figure the Broncos know he is on the short list that will likely get a suspension, or is in danger of it... If he does get one, he will appeal it, drag the process out, play most or all of next season, then end up signing a different deal once the terms of the suspension are known more clearly. I know the Saints were moving in a different direction, but the possibility of a looming suspension probably has something to do with why the Saints didn't pursue him with a bigger/longer deal, as well. It certainly made sense for the Saints not to throw a lot of money at him right now.

darstep 03-23-2012 09:41 AM

Porter did a good job with us.
The injury pronation was from all the run support those guys had to give.
Think about it, only big neck Harper was able to endure that kind of punishment.
Porter to the house elevates his legacy all by itself.
Thanks Porter! Thanks for everything.
Good luck with the Broncos and with all your future endeavors.

st thomas 03-23-2012 09:51 AM

if this comes down to who new, it may as well be the whole team that will sit games. GOODELL you wanted a signiture type of day for yourself like a fancy golf coarse has a signiture hole, something to be remembered by. you may be right by all of this bountygate crap. but boy o boy you will hear it the rest of your days for not opening pandoras box on the rest of the league that did exactly what the saints did. u goodell are a bullier. i new u would'nt touch washington with a ten ft pole. of fear of congress/jimmy

SaintFanQ 03-23-2012 04:27 PM

Sorry to see you go!

Good luck to you Mr Porter and thanks for all you did for the Saints!

Hope all goes well for you with the Broncos!

The defensive back who once helped deny Peyton Manning his second Super Bowl title now wants to help the veteran quarterback hoist another trophy.

Tracy Porter picked off a Manning pass in the Super Bowl two years ago and raced 74 yards for a touchdown, sealing the win for the New Orleans Saints.

That solidified Porter's legacy as a playmaker.

But the ensuing bounty scandal might just ultimately tarnish his tenure with the Saints.

Porter is looking to turn the page on the controversy in New Orleans and start fresh in the Mile High City, even if he maintains the Saints were simply playing the game. The choice of the word "bounty" still perturbs Porter.

"The thing that I will say about it is the whole label of 'bounty' is absurd," Porter said Friday in an introductory conference call after signing with Denver. "There's definitely no bounty on any player out there in the game. We were just playing football. For that term to come out, 'bounty,' I definitely think it was a bit harsh. But the league investigated and they felt they made the right decision.

"Who am I to come in and say they didn't make the right decision in issuing out the consequences for what they investigated?"

The league cracked down harshly on the Saints in the wake of their illegal program that rewarded players financially for trying to injure opponents. Head coach Sean Payton was suspended without pay for next season and general manager Mickey Loomis for eight games. Former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, now with St. Louis, also was banned indefinitely.

Any fear of more repercussions by the league down the road?

"I don't know if they brought it to any players or not, but I was not one of them," Porter said. "The only thing I can do is focus on free agency and moving on, you know, to get in the best situation for myself. I did that by coming to Denver."

On his visit to the Broncos facility earlier this week, Porter ran into none other than Manning, who was hard at work in the weight room as he continues to rehab from a series of neck surgeries.

Porter thought about casually mentioning the interception in the Super Bowl following the 2009 season, but figured it was still a sore subject. He didn't want to get off on the wrong foot with the new leader of the team.

That's a conversation for another time.

"I'm sure (the interception) will eventually come up," Porter said with a laugh. "First visit, I wanted to find out where each other's focus was, as far as helping this club win."

As said, thanks for one of the biggest plays in the history of the franchise. You had a great run here. Good luck in Denver. We'll miss those 8 games you played your heart out each season and won't miss the 8 you always missed.
