Viqueens just won't shut up

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe knew early in the 2009 NFC Championship Game that the New Orleans Saints were up to no good.

In the first quarter, Brett Favre handed the ball off to Percy Harvin and took a nasty shot to the chin from defensive lineman Bobby McCray. The play drew a 15-yard unnecessary-roughness penalty and an eventual fine.

"I had never seen that before in my life," Kluwe told ESPN Radio.

Kluwe is an outspoken type, and he thinks the league was right to come down hard on the Saints for their "bounty" program.

Said Kluwe: "My position has always been that I think Vilma and Gregg Williams should be banned for life and then Payton should get a year, their GM should get a year and anyone who knowingly took money after a hit that injured someone should get a year as well."

FinSaint 03-23-2012 09:37 PM

Well, Kluwe is the idiot, who handed his jersey number over to McNabb, so his judgment should be put under question at all times.

burningmetal 03-23-2012 09:41 PM

When a punter speaks, we should all listen...

And then bust out into simultaneous hysterical laughter.

73Saint 03-23-2012 09:46 PM

punter, stfu.

HouYat 03-23-2012 09:49 PM

Will the Vikes EVER get over that loss? Doesn't look like it.

And I will help them remember if they ever do get over it!

73Saint 03-23-2012 09:57 PM

They will forget about that loss as soon as another opportunity slips through their hands!

Danno 03-23-2012 10:19 PM

Punters aren't football players.

tell that to Thomas Morestead

saintfan 03-23-2012 10:39 PM

Was that an idiot kicker speaking? I thought somebody flushed the toilet.

WhoDat!656 03-23-2012 10:42 PM

The viqueens center is just as stupid; he wants the league to ban Sharper from the league!!

ROTFLMMFWAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

|Mitch| 03-23-2012 10:44 PM

well if I was a Viqueen, I'd want every member of the '09 team banned to...

ChrisXVI 03-23-2012 10:48 PM

Stay in your lane punter. Don't you have some coffin corner punts to work on or something like that lol?!? It's funny when the people who contribute the least have the biggest mouth.

FinSaint 03-23-2012 11:07 PM

All this hate towards punters... I just can't understand or sympathize with it.

I think f.e. the Saints' punter Morstead played a pretty pivotal role in the SB game with the successfully kicked onside kick - much more than some other players contributed on the Saints' roster.

Well, this loss made them forget the 1998 loss, which made the forget about all the past SB failures, so eventually, they'll encounter a bigger failure and forget about this one too.

W. Kovacs 03-23-2012 11:16 PM

I agree, Fin. Any Punter is more of an athlete than I am.

And Thomas Morstead is the man on Twitter...

As for this guy: he's never seen anything like a QB getting hit in the chin? Does he wear a sleep-mask unless he's out on the field? WTH is he talking about?

xan 03-23-2012 11:23 PM

If the punter is your spokesperson, you're also petitioning the League to wear tutus and garters.

SloMotion 03-24-2012 06:38 AM

... don't recall this guy chirping back in '09 ... oh wait, that was before the NFL investigation became public and players just considered hard hits as part of the game.

"anyone who knowingly took money after a hit that injured someone should get a year as well." ... I don't think he realizes what he said here ... I agree, for every hit that was not flagged by the officials, fined by the NFL, and/or resulted in a player being 'carted off'/'knocked-out and payment was received, that player should be out at least a year.

So, what would that be? One player? Maybe two? I have yet to see anything real that supports the idea that what Greg Williams was doing led to any more of a 'mercenary' mentality then is already prevelant in the NFL.

The league can argue, due to Williams' faulty use of descriptive terms, that intent was there. The league can argue non-contractual payments were made and the Saints failed to put an end to it after being warned, but exactly how many hits outside of league parameters & resulting in a cart-off/knock-out were there?

Not very many. And now Congress wants to look into it ... oh, brother ...

arsaint 03-24-2012 08:14 AM

Like someone else said in another thread, the Vikings should be thanking us for sparing them from being the only team in NFL history to LOSE 5 Superbowls.

Ungrateful #@$@#%!!@$

dizzle88 03-24-2012 08:28 AM

"kluwe is an outspoken type"

No, kluwe is punter, nobody cares what punters have to say, they are not people

Except for the beast Thomas morestead

NOLA54 03-24-2012 08:55 AM

They had a chance for revenge this year when we went to their house but they could not beat us there either.

Well, to be honest they pretty much couldn't beat anyone else this past season than themselves. ;-)

I can't speak to these two specifically, but this is the same league that called for giving a man that TORTURED animals a second chance. How he "deserved" it.

How many analyst did the same, and applauded Philadelphia for giving said second chance. Can you really take anyone seriously when they support a human that tortured animals to death, but act like paying extra for harder play should result in lifetime bans.

Get your priorities straight.

I agree with you.
There was one cart off and that was Saints coach Sean Payton :D
Congress , whaaat? That figures! Our govt. wants to investigate , again, something that is not impt.

Add to your list the guys in the NFL who were convicted because of drugs, murder!! HEllo.

I agree with you spkb.

Marlboro Man 03-24-2012 02:38 PM

I think we should ban anything about or said by any BiQueen or their b*****'s. They're too stupid to talk and need to just shut up.

I thought of this, and I do think this idea has some serious merit, but one I am considering, I think, might be worse. They should be forced to listen to that Vikings song, the one by prince, play 24x7 in their offices, on the field, basically everywhere they will be.

ScottF 03-24-2012 04:34 PM

I was at that game, and to be honest and objective I didn't really study the replay of that penalty. At the time I remember thinking Favre was still in the play when he got nailed.

So here his the million dollar question for those frozen glorified rednecks: do you think our players actually risked a shot at going to the Super Bowl so that they could collect a $1500 bounty check? It's simply inconceivable

TheEnigma 03-24-2012 04:36 PM

I'm sorry, but if you are still whining about something from 3 years ago, you have something wrong with you.

As Brian Urlacher so eloquently put it, "If you don't want your quarterback to get hit, protect him" ... http://blackandgold.com/saints/42602...ing-favre.html ...

Viking fans forget, not only was Farve getting the snot knocked out of him in '09, 2010 wasn't a particularly good year for him either ... was it 'bounties' or just bad blocking? ... you be the judge.

OldMaid 03-25-2012 04:17 PM

SloMo, it was bad blocking on MV part.
It was Farve, who should have been at home , retired or in the announcers' booth.
It was Saints'D playing aggressive profootball.
