Round 3 pick

Assuming we take a LB, CB, WR with our first 3 picks, who do you guys want to see fall to us in the 3rd round?

I will go out on a limb and say Bob "Hitman" Sanders, S, Iowa...Probably the shortest player in the draft at 5'8, but might be one of the fastest and hits like a truck. Hard worker, disciplined, good tackler. Could compete with Mitchell and Bellamy and would probably contribute on special teams

i doubt Sanders would be there in the third, but if he is...i would take him quick. THe Saints definitely need someone to come in a nd push Bellamy and Mitchell. Stuart Shwiegert from Purdue may be more likely.

Joey Thomas, keith Smith, try to find another corner.
Or maybe LB. But would much rather wait till 3rd for WR.

I doubt Bob Sanders will be there. And I wouldn\'t take a WR in the 2nd, I would take one in the third - Colbert.

If the Saints do not draft a DT in the first two rounds; I would love to see Chad Lavalais fall to them in the third. There seems to be mixed opinions about what round Lavalais will go and I am not sure if he will fall to number 81 or not, but he would be a great addition to the Saints. He has a non-stop motor and would provide great depth to the DL.

What about Shawntae Spencer?

Shawntae Spencer
CB, Pittsburgh
War Room analysis
Strengths: Has great height and good overall size with the room to get bigger. Has long arms; knocks down many passes when in position. Is aggressive and competitive. Has the size to hold up against bigger NFL receivers. Has improved his technique in press coverage. Knows how to blanket receivers and take them out of their routes. Is quick and athletic for his height.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal bulk. Has subpar speed. Struggles a bit to turn and run. Long legs give him trouble when called upon to open up. Lacks the recovery speed to compensate for mistakes. Is inconsistent in coverage; has occasional mental lapses.

Bottom line: Spencer hasn\'t received much attention in the draft process because he has only average speed, but he has enough upside to warrant late-round consideration. He is tall and if he continues to improve in press coverage, he has a chance to make it in a physical NFL scheme similar to the Eagles\'.

Dan Pompei analysis
Is a tall, talented fiery competitor. Uses hands well and makes plays on the ball. Is more comfortable in zone than in man-to-man. Answered some questions by running a 4.48 40. Is very raw and wasn\'t invited to the Combine

I dont Spencer is a legit 3rd round prospect. He was average at best in school and he had some good workouts but i think he is more 4th or 5th round guy.

He may of been average while playing but he is a work-out warrior and is now considered a mid-2nd round prospect.

Personally, I hate work-out warriors. I believe most of them turn out to be the big busts. Give me someone who did it on the field and not on the track.

Word on the street is that Spencer has flown up the boards and is considered a second round guy. He had good workouts, yes. Also, though, he went against Fitzgerald every day in practice and supposedly did very well against him.
