Loomis & Payton to attend; may speak at owner's meeting
 

The NFL is encouraging both Payton and Loomis to speak at the different meetings this week. While it might not be high on their list, this is something that they should really put some effort into.

It'll be a Roger Goodell Asskissarama in hopes of reducing the punishments on appeal.

Hopefully they don't go all vigilante on Goodell, although most of us would probably pay good money to see that.

I kinda wish they would. The punishments are set. They don't HAVE to even speak. I wouldn't. And if I did I'd say something like, "You know, we deserve to be reprimanded because we're in charge, but the punishment doesn't fit the crime. There is plenty of precedent that one, violations that were far more damaging to the integrity of the game were punished in a far less-severe manner and two there is plenty of evidence to support that we were not doing anything unique. We are happy to discuss this and offer evidence to any media person who attends our press conference in September. We plan to appeal to whatever extent we have available."
