ESPN/Fox in bidding war for Sean Payton

WWL NFL Analyst Mike Detillier says ESPN and Fox Sports are in a bidding war to try and get Saints Coach Payton to be an in-studio analyst during his looming one year .

"I've been told that it looks as though he is going to end up at ESPN," Detillier said.

He says his sources are saying that ESPN is the likely going to have an announcement soon.

"You'll see Sean Payton on ESPN... with Chris Berman and the gang every Sunday," Detillier insisted.

If he goes to ESPN I am going to hang my self.... full stop

RockyMountainSaint 03-27-2012 03:44 PM

I kinda feel bad for Mike D.

With the Saints having so little presence in the draft this year, I don't think his guide is gonna sell very well.

I feel sorry for Bobby, just because he's awful.

AsylumGuido 03-27-2012 03:45 PM

Sweet! Looks like he'll be replacing Parcells.

saintfan 03-27-2012 03:47 PM

I hope his salary wherever he goes offsets the insane penalty the league hammered him with. Other than that I don't care much because I rarely watch any of that pre-game BS.

I like Bobby because I understand what he is, an unabashed "homer" that is all emotion and little thought.

I stopped listening because of Deke's superior, know it all attitude towards callers. And no, I am not one of those callers, I just cannot stand the dude.

Oh, the 45 min of commercials and news vs 15 min of content sucks too.

I agree. I can't stand the way Deke talks to callers. And Bobby is aggravating but as you said you accept him for what he is. But I also get VERY frustrated with the callers. There are so many morons that call in to the show, I really think whoever the "filter" for the show is, they need someone to do a better job. If Deke and Bobby didn't have so many TOTAL NINCOMPOOPS calling in, it wouldn't be so bad.

skymike 03-27-2012 05:27 PM

Im a huge fan of Bobby and I like Deke too. I think you're lucky to have them both, and you dont realize it. Listen to some Houston sports radio some time. Houston sports radio will bore you like tax code.

Its not rocket surgery, its just football, and its for fun. even if it does affect my moods.

Bobby and Deke sound like nowhere else in the country, and WWL's Saints coverage is ridiculous in a good way. I love their passion, their knowledge, their crazy callers-- their craziness themselves. You just dont know, if you havent been somewhere else... doesnt get any more honest than these guys. You know you're in Louisiana.

... and hearing you guys b***h about them... I also know Im in Louisiana. lol.
Dont change

st thomas 03-27-2012 09:47 PM

i would think payton will be on the sidelines after an appeal. if he goes that way.

Danno 03-27-2012 10:17 PM

No, No, No... yeah Bobby's a homer.

QBREES9 03-27-2012 11:07 PM

That Sports Illustrated cover with Bobby Hebert reminds me of the TV Guide NFL season preview of '98 when it said "Great Saints Alive!" with a picture of Billy Joe Hobert.

I guess all the magazines copied each other since the media didn't give a crap about us back then... Now they can't stop talking about us, for all the wrong reasons. That's ok though, we don't need approval to kick a**.

I won't see him on ESPN. I don't pay for cable, not going to either.

papz 03-28-2012 01:19 PM

Would love to see Payton with Gruden on MNF.

dueceloose 03-28-2012 02:34 PM

Either way sean will have to deal with the bounty questions and missing out on coaching.
