Ok... I come in peace. I understand the need to defend the actions of your beloved team. But people here can not be that out of touch of reality. To really believe that this is some sort of conspiracy and or it is normal practice in every level of sports, is in short asinine.

GW blatantly instructed his team to

1) aim for the knees of a player who had history of ACL problems.
2) aim for the ankles of a player who had a history of bad ankles.

Notice I did not mention anything about #10's or #21's 'concussions' because that can easily be misinterpreted metaphors. But how can you as human beings truly ignore, a small sample of which the NFL claims to have more of, malicious acts to pay others to deliberately injure another human being? And this was just ONE week versus ONE team. How long has this gone on and for how many teams?

I'm not here to debate whether or not Loomis/Payton's suspensions/punishments are too severe or not severe enough. But is it sad that people believe they should not be punished. They knew what was going on and did nothing to stop it over the span of multiple seasons.

In closing, if you cannot rationally distinguish between playing a rough and physical sport; versus deliberately trying to injure another human being. I truly fear for your children and for anyone who has you as their mentor, role model, boss, ect.

The man who leaked its conscience was bothering him....I'll buy that for a dollar.

So convenient, that this salacious bit of audio just coincidentally found its way into the media, to be released on the same day that the appeals are being heard by Goodelll. After the public sentiment had begun to swing back towards the Saints and Payton, that maybe the penalties were too harsh. This audio exists since January, the bounty scandal has been going on publicly since March 2nd, and after two months this audio just suddenly comes out of the blue NOW, today.

Pretty amazing coincidence.

Back in January, weeks before the word “bounty” meant anything to football fans other than the brand of paper towels used to clean up spilled beer after a garbage-time touchdown allowed the underdog to cover the spread, a pair of Giants players admitted following the NFC title game that part of the strategy was to hit punt returner Kyle Williams in the head.

“The thing is, we knew he had four concussions, so that was our biggest thing, was to take him outta the game,” linebacker Jacquain Williams said at the time regarding Williams, who muffed a punt and fumbled a punt during San Francisco.

“He’s had a lot of concussions,” receiver Devin Thomas said. “We were just like, ‘We gotta put a hit on that guy.’ . . . [Giants reserve safety Tyler] Sash did a great job hitting him early and he looked kind of dazed when he got up. I feel like that made a difference and he coughed it up.”

As Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports explains it, filmmaker Shawn Pamphilon was specifically troubled by the Giants’ remarks, given what Pamphilon heard the night before the Saints played the 49ers in the division round.

“When [Gregg Williams] was talking about the Gore stuff and saying ‘cut off the head,’ I was thinking, ‘That’s a metaphor,’ ” Pamphilon told Silver. “The thing that really got me was when he said the thing about No. 10 and concussions. I thought, ‘Did he just say that?’ That was the red flag for me. And then the comments by the Giants made it hit home even harder.”

What hits home even harder now is the possibility, if not likelihood, that Jacquain Williams and Devin Thomas didn’t come up with the importance of hitting Kyle Williams in the head on their own. In nearly a dozen years of covering the NFL, one thing I’ve learned is that most of the things the players say publicly trace back to something a member of the coaching staff told them.

And so it’s now hard not to wonder whether one or more members of the Giants’ coaching staff were saying the same kind of things that Gregg Williams was saying to the Saints the night before the Giants played the 49ers.

Without all those turnovers we do win the game. That's not his fault. I think he did a good job considering the talent he had to work. He committed to putting pressure on Smith and it worked much of the game. Was it great, no, but it was more than enough IMO. Putting his whole career with the Saints on that one drive is extremely critical. He helped us win a lot of games with a bunch of C- to B players and when coach asked him to get the D nasty he did exactly that.

I haven't heard the audio (not going to at work), but the reference to the "cash sign" as a payment could actually be taken two ways.

1. Incentive payment - how it's currently being portrayed as a "Bounty"
2. Fine Payment - The context could be taken as an offer to assist in paying any possibly fine handed out by the "Ego in the NFL Offices".

Either way the audio is out there and people will spin it to their way of thinking.

The fact the audio was release today of all days appears to be nothing but sensationalism. If they recorded and released this type of item from every team and coach this would be a non-story.

If teams were not required to release injury reports this type of information may not be available to other teams (or the odds makers). So why not look at the system that spawned this behavior - Is the league not responsible enough to see they are partially responsible for this?
