I agree. I think we all know maybe 1/2 of the NFL DC are doing this, and a message needs to be sent. GW also damaged our good reputation. No Saints fans would have allowed this to continue if we had known. Give him the chair, and then find the others, and give them the chair too.

Sure has. It was getting watered down enough on the defensive side, now I don't even want to think about what it's gonna look like. Refs are going to throw flags at anything they think might have been intent to harm even if the hit is perfectly legal. So in other words, every offensive player, other than linemen, will be treated like the quarterback has been for years.

I hope I end up wrong about that.

He should get charged for every player that the Saints hurt and got carted off during his tenure here.

Which is..... uh... none?

The article says there is a "line" but that "line" has never been defined.... He will never be charged, and certainly never convicted of anything..

Just fluff to get readers.

He deserves a lifetime ban from coaching in the NFL, but IDK about the criminal charges. The problem there is you open the door to litigation of all professional sports and then you'll see pitchers being sued for close pitches, hockey/football players sued for 'big hits' and basketball players taken to court for 'elbows' ...
... we become a nation of 'bocci' players, or worse yet, 'curlers' ...

That was/is happening with our without Williams. This whole situation is certainly speeding up the process though.

Regardless of what Williams said during a pregame speech, if he did not injure an opponents player, then how did he commit a crime. What he said on that tape is said by coaches at every level to amp up their team. If you think its not then you are lying to yourself. If Williams is guilty because of his speech, then several top NFL players are guilty of felonious assault by their admitted actions on the field(Gaint's vs 49's playoff game). The NFL is now getting like NASCAR, not fun to watch and fans and media that don't have a clue demanding action before the use that little used peanut in their heads called a brain. Stop and really think about what your asking for people!!
