Could Martez be moving to DE?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't see why this is such a far out concept. I have since he got more playing time said that he seemed destined to be a DE, we still don't know how Romeus is going to pan out but ...

I don't see why this is such a far out concept. I have since he got more playing time said that he seemed destined to be a DE, we still don't know how Romeus is going to pan out but my thought is that he will beat out Will Smith with or without bounty penalties, and Take over one DE spot and with our Linebacking core so stacked now the coaching staff will have no choice but to move him in order to get him on the field. Cam will probably move inside in order to provide help to bunkley. He'll be more effective inside.

He has adequate size and with more and more LTs/RTs being of the skyscraper variety, a smaller stature might be beneficial for a dip move to get past them.

His experience as a LB would also give him the added benefit of being able to comfortably drop back into the coverage if needed, like some of the best DEs around the league are able to do when called upon.

Any way they can find to get him on the field and in a role where he can make an impact is a good move in my book.
Yep, I think the best bet is to keep him at linebacker and use him as a DE in certain 3rd down packages. Full time OLB and part time DE.
