Loyalty

From talking heads on television, to newspaper and magazine reporters, to fans of other teams, and even people on here, the title of this thread is meant for you. I have been a fan of the Saints, since before most of these people mentioned, were even born. What exactly, do you expect Saints fans to do, exactly? Hang our coach in town square? Turn on the organization, and be completely "outraged", and "sickened", to the extent that deem acceptable? What will make you back off, and move on with your life? Let me tell you this, my fanhood for this team went through decades of dissappointment, and embarrassing moments, so why in the world do YOU think this will change that now? I am a Saints fan, and i will be, till the day i die. I defend my team, because its MY team. Right or wrong, for better or worse, you wont see me saying the same things you do, about MY team, so give up trying to get me too, and GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE. Its over, so get over it. Call us names, run us down, do what you gotta do, because ive been through it all before...... WE'VE been through it all before. You had no problems with us, when we were the loveable losers, bag wearers, and the full time stars of NFL Follies. Now we are a legit threat every year, and have a ring, and here comes the vultures. I would rather be known as a bounty hunter, than a bag head any day of the week. I think, if you spent as much time cheering your own team, as you do bashing ours, you might live a more fulfilling life. But that wouldnt be as much fun as coming in here, mouthing off, and showing your ass now would it? The game has changed i guess...... Now its fans are more loud mouthed, five year olds, more interested in drama, than the game itself.... Now thats progress.....

Damn straight, Pauly! I've been a Saints fan since day one back in 1967. Couldn't have said it better.

WhoDat!656 04-09-2012 06:05 PM

I proudly wear my Saints gear!!

Always have! Always will!

AsianCajun 04-09-2012 08:15 PM

Couldn't have said it any better myself .....!

BIGEASY504 04-09-2012 10:16 PM

AMEN!

pherein 04-09-2012 10:51 PM

Damn right :)
Hell I was born in NO in 1967, god only made me to watch the Saints.

alexonfyre 04-09-2012 11:36 PM

Even after 6 years, it still doesn't register with me that the Saints are actually a good team nowadays. There are no words to describe the sensation. No dumbass coach or media pundit is going to ruin that for me.

QBREES9 04-09-2012 11:41 PM

I hate the media. I bleed Black and Gold Saints fan forever.

I live in Washington State, been rooting for the Saints since 1977. In my part of the country, you were either a steelers/cowboys or the infant sea chickens fan. I chose the Saints, been loyal since. I've been spit on, kicked, had beer poured on me, hell, I even had an ugly chick punch me in the back of the head at seattle/saints games. It's been a wonderful ride, I'll never waiver, I'm more loud, proud now than I ever have been. What I find amazing is the number of loyal, die hard fans spread across not only the US, but abroad. The who dat nation is awesome, glad to finally be a part of it. Well said SaintPauly.

I hope the Saints knock the sh*t out of everyone this season!

If you have been around awhile this whole drama is nothing compared to the days of living in the dungeon. SP is a smart guy he will set this team up in the shadows Tuna or no Tuna.

SBin2009 04-10-2012 04:23 AM

I Think we will have a good 2012.

Saints victory in the Super Bowl played in the SuperDome.

You guys are a tight-knit group, been through a lot since the team was founded and if you don't mind me sayin', you've weathered the storm pretty well ... effectively 'circled the wagons', so to speak. There might be an occassional bump in the road here on out, but this latest isn't going to hold back the Saints as much as some may think and it seems like people are starting to realize just how blown out of proportion this has been.

On the lighter side, I think you guys should draw a line at letting ugly chicks punch you in the head, ... I've taken my fair share of abuse as a fan, but have never been assaulted by an ugly girl,.

Continue to march, New Orleans ...

Y'all are making me feel like a newbie. I've only been a fan since 1970. Any team that'd hire a guy with half a foot to kick for them was my kind of team. I still run into folk who say he cheated. I'll just look at them and say, "He had half a foot for Christ's sakes! What? He'd a done 70 yards if he only had an ankle. Damn cheater!" Now understand, I'm an Ohio boy who now lives in Colorado. I have yet to set foot in Louisiana. I've lived through years of not seeing my team on tv. Got Directtv just so's I finally could. And yes, out here in the midst of Bronco country, I wear my Saints gear all the time. Although now I'm working hard on covering the NFL logo.

Fan = Abbreviation of fanatic.

I am a Saints fan. I was born a Saints fan and I will die a Saints fan. I love the Saints players but I am not a fan of any one player. Players come and go, they play for different teams after the Saints, and some have played for different teams before the Saints.

When I beat down on a player who is under preforming it is a reflection on my New Orleans Saints fanaticism, it is a reflection on my "Saints First" frame of mind. It is not an action of disloyalty. The Team, as a whole, is where my loyalty lies.

Being a Louisiana native I have seen the State and its sports go on downward spirals because of the "that's our guy" mentality. I am ARMY and would not follow my best friend into combat, I would follow the best leader.

People have voted for politicians simply because that's who their daddy voted for, and that has hut the great state of Louisiana.

Sorry for rambling.... I have a lot of passion in my team.

Who Dat!

SapperSaint 04-10-2012 09:13 AM

Great Post!

I have a Gold cap with te Fluer in the middle. I wear it often and I have had some people ask why I am still wearing it. I simply say; "Because I am a Saints fan. I still wear my LSU gear and sport my decals on my truck the day after the National Championship game. What do you expect me to do???? Throw it away? I guess I am a more loyal person than you are."

Rugby Saint II 04-10-2012 01:02 PM

When asked how to describe myself in one word I usually say loyal. It's how I roll.lol I'm not going anywhere.
I'm still wearing my Saints gear proudly every day and if somebody doesn't like it.........well, screw them!

SaintPauly 04-10-2012 01:26 PM

I just seems like the rest of NFL world out there, thinks that we should be in complete outrage, and bash our own team and organization. Like they are in charge of how we should feel about all of this. They are not. And questioning why we are defending our team. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Looking forward to the first game in the Dome. Our team and all the haters will realize then we are with them no matter. Superbowl bound.

iceshack149 04-10-2012 03:33 PM

Has anyone here given up on the team or had friends or family tell them that they have stopped supporting the Saints?

The NFL yes. The Saints, no.

My dad has threatened to since time immemorial, but as far as I remember, he has never missed a game.
