Robinson's game tape

I just watched espns motion tape on every defensive prospect they had on the board. Only two really jumped out at me. Robinson and Taylor.

Taylor looks unbelievable. I know he's going to be a top 5 pick and he rightfully should be. Size, speed, hands, hitting this guy has it all. I knew he was good but after watching his tape I think he's the best defensive prospect I've seen in a while. Whoever gets Taylor will be very lucky.

Robinson is widley considered as the #2 cb prospect, but in the tapes I saw he looks far better than hall or any other cb in the draft. He shows the speed to recover and has a sense for the ball. If the saints have the chance to get him they should even if they have to move up a couple of spots. Judging by those tapes I think he could jump right in and start for us.

I have liked DUNTA from the begining. I think him being the lesser \"known\" makes him moer hungry to prove his worth at the next level. There has been alot of talk how none of the corners in this draft can compair with the corners from last and I\'m sure they would like to show otherwise.

It\'s on espn\'s nfl page under the Manning article. It says Motion: See the top prospects. All you have to do is click on the player you want to see. Really good stuff.

Robinson did look impressive in those clips. I\'m also a fan of Will Poole.

I\'ll say it again, though, I think Sean Taylor is the best player in this draft.

I really like what i saw from Dunta Robinson. Did you see the way he knifed through the line and caught that running back? That pretty incredible. I hope he somehow falls to us at 18. I have to agree with turbo_dog about Taylor though. He is amazing, a human highlight reel.

Hands down Taylor\'s the man in this draft. Some team will be very lucky come saturday.

As for Robinson....the kid can flat out play. Those highlights showed a lot. Man...I would be excited if the Saints could get him.

Somebody make sure that ChRxis sees the tapes of Robinson. He was the one that kept insisting that Robinson did nothing at SC and the only reason he is gonna be a first round pick is because of his workout. Robinson clearly made several fantastic plays last year and maybe now ChRxis will be convinced. Thanks Spanky.

jim, let\'s bury this idea, OK? i\'m not saying that robinson was garbage in college, he wasn\'t... but, before the combine, he could have been had at the bargain of a 2nd rd pick. now, after the combine, he\'s the 2nd rated CB in the draft... not b/c he played better, but b/c he ran and lifted better. there isn\'t any bench presses out on the field and he\'s not gonna be in shorts on gameday... but, let it be shown that i think dunta is a great, not just good, prospect... just not for us.... we\'d be fine at least for this season with keith smith or derrick strait or just a \"patch\" on our tire for 1 more year.

Robinson and Hall have been the top two corner prospects since way before the combine. I\'ve been looking at player profiles and mock drafts since January and they have (along with Chris Gamble until the last month) been the only CBs to project in the first twenty picks.

i\'m talking like mid way thru the college football season, robinson wasn\'t up where he is today... whether he had a great senior season, that i didn\'t hear about, or whatever, i still think that it is mostly b/c of the combinem he had... and gamble, the guy was no. 1 a couple of months ago and now that he\'s only got 4.6 in the forty he\'s garbage... give me a break, this guy, IMO is better than both hall and robinson. i\'ve watched all three, and honestly gamble outshines hall and robinson by a lot.

Hall and Robinson are safe picks. Robinson and Hall both shined in college AND and had good workouts...therefore they have proven what they can do...As far as Gamble goes, I will say this...He could be the best of the three, no doubt about it because he has the talent. But since he hasnt played the position much, he has a lot of doubt next to him. He could be a bust if he doesnt go to the right place with the right coaching. You cant lose with Hall or Robinson, and Gamble could be great, but he could be nothing, so it is a risk. I would take any of the three...now, for the comment you made about the \"patch\" that just doesnt make any sense to me. Why would you want to draft someone high in the draft to be a \"patch\" when you could someone to be there for you for years and play at a high level?

the patch comment was made more to show my feelings toward a 2nd or 3rd rd CB... they\'ll perform good enough to tide us over til next year.... as you know, i advocate vilma in the 1st, which would solve our MLB woes for many years... but at CB, we need a guy that can be productive this year, then slide to the nickel next year when we get a CB in the 1st to solve our woes there... if we do get an all-pro corner in the 2nd, all the more the better.

So before the draft is held this year, you are already targeting a corner for the Saints in the first round next year...Wow, that is very impressive scouting. I like Vilma, but if he and Robinson are both available, which i think neither will be, i take Robinson. So what corners top your list for next year\'s draft? Dont even say Corey Webster.

chRxis 04-21-2004 10:50 AM

next year.... well, marlin jackson (michigan), antonio perkins (oklahoma), antrel rolle (miami), bryant mcfadden (fla. st.), and yes, my favorite webster from Louisiana State University. jackson and rolle are absolute studs and perkins is a major threat at returning punts and kicks.

You forgot Justin Miller from Clemson. He could have come out this year as a true sophomore and been taken in the second round. Thats all fine and good with the players you named. but its a shame that we didnt even draft yet and you are already identifying our biggest need for NEXT year. Lets wait and see how this draft goes first.
