Saints whistleblower identified?

Filmmaker/author Alan Donnes said Tuesday on America's Radio News Network that former Saints defensive quality control coach Mike Cerullo was a whistleblower to the NFL about the Saints' bounty program. Donnes described Cerullo as a disgruntled former employee who couldn't find work after being let go after the 2009 season. Donnes said Cerullo believed Sean Payton and Gregg Williams blocked Cerullo from getting a job in the NFL. Cerullo is currently a football program aide at Connecticut. When contacted by CBSSports.com on March 9 concerning Bountygate, Cerullo said he had no comment.

Michael Cerullo, who has extensive experience in both the National Football League and the college level, has been named a Program Aide with the University of Connecticut football program.

Cerullo was most recently an offensive consultant for the University of Miami for the 2010 season and also had a number of recruiting responsibilities. Miami earned a Sun Bowl berth following the '10 season.

Cerullo spent four seasons with the New Orleans Saints - from 2007-08 as an Offensive Assistant working with the offensive line and special teams and from 2009-10 as the Assistant to the Defensive Coordinator. The Saints won Super Bowl XLIV for the 2009 season during his tenure there. His duties with the Saints included providing quality control on both offense and defense, assisting with linebackers and special teams and all scout teams. He also performed film breakdown and creating scouting reports.

Cerullo was a Pro Personnel and Special Teams Intern with the Atlanta Falcons in the 2006 and '07 seasons.

He was a Defensive Graduate Assistant at Syracuse from 2003-05 and worked alongside current Husky head coach Paul Pasqualoni for the first two seasons. The 2004 Orange were BIG EAST Conference champions and played in the Champs Sports Bowl.

From 2000-02, Cerullo worked at Northeastern an assistant coach working with the tight ends and linebackers. With the Huskies, he served with current UConn defensive coordinator Don Brown, who was the head coach for NU at the time.

A native of Middleton, Mass., he was an assistant coach at Curry College in Milton, Mass. in 1999 and was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Masconomet Regional High School in Topsfield, Mass., from 1991-98.

Cerullo is a 1999 graduate of Central Connecticut with a Bachelor's degree in science, industrial technology and project management. He was a running back for the Blue Devils football team.
Cerullo was a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1993-97 and received his honorable discharge in 1997.

He is engaged to Elizabeth Nickle and has two daughters - Isabella and Emma.

I have a question for Mike Cerullo...

"Does Marcellus Wallace look like a B#tch?"

Anyone know when the Hall of Fame game is this year?

I'm ready for this BountyCrap to end. At this point I would be ELATED to watch Garland Robinette was stand in head coach so we could watch the Saints crack some heads open.

I just want it to be over. Sean Payton take his stupid, unfair suspension and see some football. I've grown weary of the entire thing.

Feel your pain...think how we'll all feel, including Coach Payton, by December?!? :nutkick:

RaginCajun83 04-11-2012 07:22 AM

So now we have a name and face to the heartless, spineless coward that had to go tell big bad Goddell that the Saints were playing postseason aggressive defense..... who cares

Lets just get to the player suspensions and football, even after the games start I have a feeling every pregame show will talk about this before every game until we all are ready to puke

ScottF 04-11-2012 07:30 AM

how can a guy who left 3 years ago be the whistleblower when the infractions were over the past two seasons. This was not a one-time infraction

Thanks, I have a young associate and she's never seen Pulp Fiction, Goonies, the Usual Suspects, not even A Christmas Story!

She's wiping out my movie reference catalog!

He just opened the door. The rest was Gregg Williams being a pompous dick. Also, the NFL can easily manipulate the facts to protect the whistleblower, which they probably did. Nearly all of the facts they have released come from the 2009 season, other than the targeting of Cam Newton and Aaron Rodgers, which they could have gotten out of one or two emails.

You gotta' watch 'Pulp Fiction', even if you think you're not going to like it, sit through it, there's so many great scenes/quotes & it's Samuel Jackson at his best ... I like the 'Burger Royale' exchange myself, but you'll see the 'Marcellus Wallace' reference after the 4 minute mark ....

Beastmode 04-11-2012 08:48 AM

If true, it confirms my belief that it was someone on the staff with one royal grudge. The article states he was ostracized by the NFL and could not find employment and look where he is now, quite a step down and likely a big pay reduction.

My point is that we had the initial infractions and warnings, and then still had the bounty program for two years. We have the suspensions and other penalties for not stopping, and telling Goddell that we did.
This guy is inconsequential

Pulp Fiction(my favorite movie) "Say what one more time!" is another one of many great quotes from the movie. Another great line is "do you see a sign that says dead ****** storage? That's because there ain't one."
Back on topic I always thought Rita leaked the info.......time for a power struggle.

When are they going to dish out more pain with the player suspensions? I'd let it go as well but just thinking about losing players....that is going to be the real kicker. The offense can tow the line but once we have to start grabbing warm bodies off the street the season is over.

RaginCajun83 04-11-2012 06:28 PM

I heard that there should be an answer by the end of this week to early next week. I just wish they would hurry up even though I'm sure the players will appeal and this whole thing will get drugged through the mud yet again ..... can't I just take a big cup of Coma-Dose and wake up when the season begins

Beastmode 04-11-2012 06:49 PM

I hear you RG...we need our defensive players. We have all seen what happens when we had to get RB's at the soup kitchen, if this happens to the defense it's going to be one long season.

RailBoss 04-11-2012 07:22 PM

If the alleged former Saints defensive quality control coach Mike Cerullo was a whistleblower to the NFL - why he no go to the Saints GM?
