Well, of course they'd need to prove that he actually did it. I agree there. I'm just thinking in Goodell's eyes, Williams and Vilma go hand to hand if Vilma did that. Can't see anything under a season suspension for him. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But if I'm the Commissioner and if I'm following logic of it - Vilma is promoting the same act by doing this that Williams was promoting. Therefore a year suspension is in tact.

Just my thinking.

But there are two key differences. Goodell has repeatedly said that he holds coaches to a higher standard than players. According to his stated philosophy, even with absolute proof, Vilma should not received as stringent a penalty. The other major point is that coaches do not have a union and therefore they have no leverage when it comes to fighting penalties.

We'll have to see. Hopefully he stays along with those guidelines. Good points though, Guido.

This is what I was alluding to in my previous post, but I failed to construct it as elegantly as you did AG. ;-)

I don't want to predict how long but Adolf Goddell might hammer him, appealing it might not do anything. One person with that much power over the entire NFL is ridiculous, a committee is what the NFL needs not a headcase tyrant.
