Question How does this sound?

I saw this posted elsewhere.

Drew has now backed Rodger Goodell into a corner by allying with the NFLPA's investigation on the bounties. Regardless of whether or not you think they happened, Goodell is now SCREWED regardless of what he does.

If Goodell gives the NFLPA direct evidence that New Orleans had a bounty-for-injury program, then he is directly giving the NFLPA ammunition against his league for lawsuit. This will be a LOT of money paid by the NFL.

If Goodell does not, then guess what? It can be argued that the evidence does not exist (regardless of if it actually does), and then a strong case can be made for SP's reinstatement, and against any penalty for the team.

The NFLPA is asking for evidence of a pay to injure system, that's not the same as the covering up of the bounty system Roger got Loomis, Payton, Vitt for...

If the NFL doesn't show evidence then it only benefits the players

If there is no evidence given that the Saints had a pay to injure system, then there is no evidence that there was a cover up. Because that is exactly what the Saints were accused of covering up. So really, it is the same thing.

Goodell will never release the evidence because their is not enough evidence to warrant a conviction in any courthouse in America. He had an emotional response to his ego, and made the Saints an example. They will never release it, and thats why they asking for all of GW's tapes. They don't have enough evidence to win in court.

Owners really need to find a way to limit this guys power. It is going to come back and haunt him one day. I think he has had it out for the Saints for quite a while and Brees association with the players union also contributed along with the Saints not jumping on his bandwagon.

The thing is during the lockout the players union could have pushed hard for Goodell to distribute his disciplanary(sp?) power to some form of committe or board to hand down fair punishments but they caved when that issue came up now they are stuck with Goodell Castro running things like he does now for another 10ys because they agreed to that in the new CBA. So now the only way to really get fair treatment is if it comes to a point where its a legal matter and lawyers get involved.

I've always wondered why the NFL isn't run by a committee, or a board, instead of giving one man ULTIMATE power over all.

I agree somewhat with the logic behind the release. If there was pay-to-injure evidence, it can be used in both criminal and civil procedures. Because the suit would inevitably involve discovery on all possible infractions, this would be a real problem for the league.
