I say pass, keep the pick it would take to get him

Me too. We need help up front, and if we get it (any at all) the back end will be more than fine.

I am so surprised that is the way you guys are thinking, I honestly don't think you get anything in the later rounds the caliber of Asante. This is going to be a corners go early draft. How old was Sharper when he first arrived. The age thing is bull. Asante is long in the tooth, but veteran savy and playmaking ablity make up for that. I think it is risky, but if you give him something to play for he may be everything were missing!

He was real good at one time, I'd pass now. That corner from Coastal Carolina should be there in the 4th, to me he could be a mold of what Spags likes out of a corner.

they are willing to deal him for so little because of the cap impact he carries... just like Reggie did for us.

Last i heard it was around 9 mil against the cap this year.... So that's a HELL NO in my book. For that money they would have to give us picks.

Keep the draft pick.

QBREES9 04-20-2012 11:22 PM

Would they take are 5th or 6th ?

Marlboro Man 04-21-2012 12:18 AM

Stick a fork in him, he's done.

dueceloose 04-21-2012 12:22 AM

Asante would bring in experience that could benefit the team but in all likely hood it wont happen. Probably best for the team cause we can go younger n cheaper just coach em up.

pherein 04-21-2012 12:24 AM

Not sure he's done. He has talent, and would be walking in with a chip on his shoulder. We might get 2-3 good years out of this guy if the deal is right.

I'd like to have him for sure, but the Saints can't afford him without him agreeing to negotiate a new contract, which I don't see happening.

So, no to the trade for him.

He's due 21 million over the next 2 seasons.

He's still a good CB, but not worth 21 million.

oh yeah if it is for that type of money hell no!

Samuel is a solid CB who would start on our team. The reason Philly is willing to give him up for only a 5th or 6th is because of his contract. We don't have the space to bring him in.

I'd be interested if we didn't have our top 3 corners in place with Greer, Robinson, and Patrick. I know he would probably be an upgrade over Robinson but for the money we'd be paying him... I think we should pass and let Robinson show what he can do under Spag's.

Get Drew signed first before we worry about signing anyone "expensive", my thoughts...
