Here's the link:
Sources: New Orleans Saints' Mickey Loomis could eavesdrop on opposing coaches during home games - ESPN

According to the Saints, this whole story is "1000% inaccurate." I'm guessing the "inactive after 2004" piece came from the person making the allegation.

1,000 percent false. 1,000 innacurate.

Funny, I had posted that elsewhere and hadn't bothered to read most of it. That is what I get I guess. Thanks for the link

It's becoming trendy to pile on the Saints right now. I need more than some anonymous source to believe this. I'll be curious to see how this plays out.

For what its worth, the guys on ESPN are shockingly not jumping to conclusions right away like they did with 'bountygate.' They're all saying they need more evidence.

Just give them time, they will

This is just awful.

The worst part is they throw in the "it was disconnected after 2004." So how are we supposed to prove it's not true? Come in and check our equipment for a connection that they admit isn't there?

This is like the old "Sentator, when did you stop beating your wife?" question. No matter how we answer, we're hosed...

I really really hope it's not true.

In 2002, the Saints compiled a 9-7 record. The team had an 8-8 record during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In those three seasons combined, the Saints were 12-12 in the Superdome.

The 2005 season remains the infamous one that the Saints never played a home game in the Superdome due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina. According to sources, that was also the first time Loomis would not have had the ability to listen in on the play calls of opposing teams. That year the Saints finished 3-13.

Yep, there's the evidence. I mean there couldn't have been any other reason for the 3-13 record that season - clearly they were lost without the electronic eavesdropping.

I'm hoping this turns out to be BS, but in any regards the Pats weren't punished that hard for their Spygate - at least in relation to the Bountygate punishments - and this type of a violation would fall into the same category of competitive edge violations, so because of that precedent the potential punishments would have to be fairly similar.

Unnamed source? ESPN? Bogus...

Saintlyone 04-23-2012 03:35 PM

Nothing to see here. Someone is just trying to pile on on an already crazy off season.

I'll say this(and Drew really needs to get signed and be a friggin leader for this team), all they are doing is pissing off an already extremely focused team that is hell bent on blowing this league up in '12. LOOK OUT!!!

So what kind of legal options do the Saints and Loomis have? I'm so sick and tired of ESPN and most of the fickle sports journalists out there
