ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports QB Eli Manning (Mississippi) is prepared to sit out the entire 2004 season if selected by the San Diego Chargers.

It just rubs me the wrong way. I had a feeling this was the case by the comments Archie made. This seems to be odd for a family that seems so conservative. Maybe there is something behind the scenes that we don\'t know about, but it sure is gonna shine a negetive spot light on Eli, right out of the gate. Sometimes QB\'s never overcome things like this.

Or, maybe the success that Peyton has had has given this family the \"god\" complex.

Archie was quoted earlier this year saying he\'d rather Eli go to NY (larger market there). What I know of Eli is he has a tendency to want to follow in his dad\'s footsteps unlike that of Payton. Hmmm, stradegy to get Saints and Chargers on the phone and talking? I think overall wrong move for the Saints but hell if this is something Eli pulls off and wants to be a Saint, then I say go for it... Takes some nads to say hey I want to play in New Orleans and that is that.

I don\'t care what is being said now - if the Chargers draft him, he will sign and play for them. The Manning\'s are coming off bad right now but we all know this family is a bunch of preppy, goody-goody, do-nothing-wrong, never want to offend anyone types...so in the end, he will crumble and play for whoever takes him.
