No CB in the draft

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I still want to try and move Jenkins to nickle. What we really need is a FS....

Just a little.

We could have drafted him and sent him to New York to talk to Goodell.

In the post draft press conference, Spagnoulo said that Corey White was a player that Flajole wanted. Said he was brought in to play nickle corner and he can press well...

I wonder what he's gonna bring to the table...

Spags has been saying we are going to be playing Press Coverage, that alone made me smile - no free runs for the WR's anymore

What do the Saints do well in the draft? Select players who fit the system. Players like Nicks, Bushrod, Evans, Colston, Martez Wilson, Porter, Graham, etc. None of these guys were household named big time selections. But they fit what the Saints were trying to do. The trouble we have had is with our first round picks. I think Loomis and Payton pick guys in the first round that are seen as no brainers by the media, and we have mostly gotten burned for that. It's when the team's scouts scourge the country for small school prospects that things fall in place. I am going to stay optimistic. I also understand that it will take 2-3 years for these guys to develop.

At this point, I am not prepared to second guess Loomis's drafts at all. He has proven to me that he has a handle on things. What has not made sense to me in past drafts has still worked out very well for the team.

As far as for the Defense..... Not replacing present players, or finding more talent in the draft tells me that Loomis believes our defensive issues have not been contributed to players or players skills... but more to Williams "style".

An offense knowing Williams has a 70%+ blitz rate would leave any defense at a disadvantage. Regardless of their talent.

My gut tells me we will pick up real talent in the UD free agent pool.
