Junior Suicide compared to Katrina

Yes, its an NFL topic but hear me out Saints forum...

I posted this in here because I do most of my business here and its specific to New Orleans.

I live in San Diego. The local radio show this morning compared the mourning and sadness in SD with Junior dying to 9/11 and Katrina. Yes, I'm serious.

I get it. Its a tragedy and all. We'll be pretty beat up one day when Drew leaves this earth (approximtely 183 years from now, +/- 50 years) but to say it would be comparable to Katrina is ridiculous. Even moreso if his death was self inflicted.

To compare the thousands of deaths in 9/11 and Katrina to the suicide of one man says one of two things:

1) They obviously believe Junior was the Messiah or;
2) They are heartless, stupid and totally ingnorant to the gravity of those larger defining moments in our nation's history.

WTH!

If that's really what was said, then the person who said it was obviously still a little too emotional to be thinking rationally.

Put me down for #2.

RailBoss 05-03-2012 11:40 AM

I would agree with #2 but this was a serious shock and emotions are "off the hook" right now.

His mom is really taking it hard. Individual crisis can sometimes seem overly devastating. Still.........

Halo 05-03-2012 12:06 PM

Ok so it's as sad and devastating as Katrina or 9/11?

Therefore people will be mourning Junior's death 6 years from now? People will also be physically and mentally scared living in financial ruin and in trailers herded like cattle?

Look, Junior's death is horrible and my prayers go out to him and especially his family - truly a sad day for a class act of the NFL.

Whoever compares the mourning of his death to that of widespread cataclysm and mayhem of epic proportions is AN IDIOT!

lsutigerfan 05-03-2012 12:12 PM

The person who said that is obviously really hurting right now, when my mom passed I thought the world was coming to an end, I was to hurt to think straight so I can't bash that person.

RIP #55

We seem to be forgetting something here.

Junior pulled the trigger on himself. It wasn't cancer, car accident, plane crash, or freak elevator accident. Sad as it is he ended his own life.

No comparison to Katrina at all.

You know what is coming next don't you? Junior Seau suffered debilitating depression from all of the head trauma he endured in the NFL and the law suit will be filed along with the rest.

ScottF 05-03-2012 12:42 PM

Comparing a celebrity death to either of those two epic catastrophes is petty, selfish and insulting. The indecencies suffered by those who even made it to the 'dome for shelter overshadow anything one individual could have encountered.

The investigation isn't over yet, I'm just saying.

JimmyB1775 05-03-2012 02:25 PM

Yeah, and if the investigation is run by the same idiot that mentioned Katrina and Junior in the same breath, it will be deemed a suicide by means of shooting one's self in the chest!

Yes I am aware.. But just yesterday the police investigating were calling it "apparent suicide". Ruling out robbery which would have been brought up and obvious from the state of the home, Seau is going to look dirty if it was assassination.

Sadly moronic dispositions are contagious and it is in epidemic fashion on the Left West Coast :broccoli:

My friend, know that my thoughts are with you as you attempt to survive there... :bng:

This is certainly a tragedy, but unless Junior offed himself with a nuclear missile, I can't imagine that his death has had the effect of Katrina on San Diego...

At first pass on this reply I thought to my self.... What in the hell does Karmen San Diego have to do with Seau?

Dope!:dunce:

Junior Seau's death ruled a suicide after autopsy - NFL.com

Suicide.

Not sure how an autopsy would reveal that.... figured that would be investigation and crime scene analysis. Was there a recorder in his brain?

Tobias-Reiper 05-04-2012 07:35 AM

What was it Stalin said? "A single man's death is a tragedy, a million deaths a statistic"?

edit - no need to go there.

There are tests that can determine if he pulled the trigger and where.

Euphoria 05-04-2012 07:54 AM

The comments are to stupid that to believe them I'd need to here it and see a link to the comments some where???

Those are forensics, not an autopsy.... unless I am wrong and need to go watch a few episodes of la Law :-)

Autopsy is where they cut ya open, forensics are where they test your hand for traces of gun power residue.

Trajectory is not cut and dry as my hand can reproduce any angle yours can if you take the bullet, but your hand can not reproduce any angle my hand can.

PS.. you got the bullet instead of me because your sassy:broccoli:

This is a total shock

Srgt. Hulka 05-04-2012 01:13 PM

Where are you at Bolts4Life? You need to weigh in on this. Is this truly a tragedy of Katrina proportion for San Diego?
