Bountygate: Reaching Boiling Point

Are you telling me that NFL players can't be punished for anything that happened prior to the 2011 season, when the league entered into a new CBA?

Are you telling me that even if it were possible to punish the players, Roger Goodell isn't the person responsible for punishing players involved in a pay-for-performance program, and that the responsibility lies instead with a dude named Stephen Burbank, who is the System Arbitrator?

And are you telling me that any alleged acts of on-field misconduct under the new CBA (2011-present) would actually go to a designee of the commissioner - again, not Roger - and that any subsequent appeals would instead go to hearing officers Art Shell and Ted Cottrell?

I've never really been on the "Hate Goodell" bandwagon like many other Saints fans, but if all of this is true, then I would kinda hope this whole thing blows up in his face, making him look so foolish that it permanently ruins his reputation past the point of recovery and spells his inevitable doom as commissioner. But only if it's true.

ONLY IF IT TRUE.

It is CSC, so you have to take it with a grain of salt until somewhere a little more reputable reports it.

Yup, this is a wait and see.

... I think it is coming to a head though, and Canal Street Chronicles or not, Goodell really 'dropped the ball' and mishandled this one, IMO.

Reports what? He's just asking questions based on the NFLPA's position. He is not reporting anything as far as I can tell.

If those were actually terms of the new CBA. He put question marks because he had no idea if they were true, but his point was that he thought those were points in the agreement signed last summer.

You know, I wasn't either, but seeing how he handled spygate, hendersons hit on McCoy, star caps , allowing vick to play, and now the saints. I really don't think he is competent enough to be commissioner, is harming the NFL, and needs to be removed before he causes even more irreparable harm.

This never needed to go this far.

I think you need to catch up...NFLPA Takes Legal Action, Challenges Goodell

Yes this was also posted in another thread. Days ago. This isn't new now.

It really is a stature of limitations... with the CBA. Anything the players did before the CBA they can't be punish for, LMAO. Guess who has egg on their face... although you know there is some wishy washy stuff going on to try and skirt that clause.
