Just a random thought here:
Lots of us (the fans) have speculated that the real reason for the harsh player/coach punishments is to help protect the league through the course of the multiple lawsuits being brought against the league by former players.
I'm thinking that the evidence is being withheld for the same reason: so that it cannot be used by the lawyers bringing suits against the league. If they release it to the public, it could be used against them.

I'm not saying I agree with their refusal to release the evidence, but that could very well be why they are refusing.

They did it, the tape surfacing was enough icing on the cake for me to throw up in my mouth, im beyond ready to move on and bury this ASAP, i didn't even want the player's to appeal, i just want to get over it, get Brees signed and get back to the good ole day's.
This mess has haunted us too long, fan's are suffering, players are suffering and the entire club as a whole is suffering, we need some good news and we need to put this crap in the past.

I don't want to see evidence, Evidence will only hurt us more, it will reveal ALL Players that were involved, it will detail more crap than we'd want to know that was in the 18,000 page doc's.
Im sure the league has had informants sent into the locker room's, conference room's and everywhere else to investigate it all, they probably had the toilets tapped for all we know and they have the right to do it..
We might not get this evidence because it might reveal the tactics the NFL used to get this evidence which could hurt them in the long run if they need to do another investigation..
Leave it be.
That shows how little you know about the facts. There were no 18,000 pages. There were 18,000 emails consisting of 50,000 pages of printed output pulled off the Saints portion of the NFL server. That's where they found the Ornstein emails. My guess is that those two emails were all that they got off the email. The remainder were probably limited to mundane office correspondence.

That doesn't make sense. Their whole argument against lawsuits would be that it was players that were intentionally injuring other players. The evidence would help the NFL's case by showing they were concerned about safety and brought an end to it.

This was, in my opinion, a very honest take on the whole situation. Written much better than I ever could, the them is as many of us have been saying:

SHOW US THE EVIDENCE

If we're guilty, if you can pin this on a select few players with REAL evidence, the fine...but if you can't? If you can't then, well, let these men play.

I think you missed my point..

I Don't care, and don't want to know anymore, i want this to get behind us, move on and get the season going..
I don't want to know any facts, i never said i knew facts, never said i knew anything about the case, if you know more than the player's and the league go share it with them most fan's just want to get this behind them, i care about the game not league rules and conspiracies, none of that is of any of our concern to tell you the truth.

This article reflects the direction that the media is moving. I'm glad for that.

And how does Shanle explain the Williams audio tape and the exhortations to injure opponents?

"Guys say crazy things all the time," Shanle said. "Gregg is one of the greatest motivators I've been around, but when he says things like 'kill the head and the body will die,' people don't take it literally. It was more of a device to get guys in a frame of mind to play a violent game at an insanely high level of intensity. It takes you to a place mentally that guys can't go otherwise

From the tiome you play Pop Warner Football we have been exposed to the crazy rantings of a coach like GW.. "Take his friggin head off".... "Rip his heart out"... "Break his will"

This tape has been trumpeted as proof positive of a Saints Bounty.... yet nothing happened.... not a SINGLE penalty.... Watch the tape... No one is shooting for knees or cheap shots to heads... IT DIDNT HAPPEN.... If listening to this tape sickens anyone then they have really weak stomachs or have never played a competitive sport in their life...

Thats all they have.. Like Vitt said.. WORDS.... sneak a microphone into any locker room and I promise you will hear the same things being said....

Its time for this madness to be exposed.... Goodell has NO evidence.... It is all smoke and mirrors.... and the Saints are paying heavily.... Its a dmaned shame but really there is nothing that can be done... nothing except winning the friggin Super Bowl and booing his @ss off the platform as he hands the trophy to TB
