Hargrove Says Words Mischaracterized!

1 Attachment(s)
But since they did, and because they grossly mischaracterized my words, it obviously became a hot item and subsequently was leaked by someone.

Nope. :handguns:

Sure would like to know what Hargrove meant, if his words were indeed mischaracterized. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he's right, but he doesn't help himself, and doesn't help anyone else understand by just saying his words were mischaracterized.

I would like to know if Hargrove is a snitch, a liar, or another victim fabricated evidence, altogether. He's one of the three, and right now I don't have enough information to lean in any direction.

jnormand 05-09-2012 06:53 PM

Oh hell. You know they gave him some sort of BS incentive to write that. Maybe they said...."Anthony, if you write a declaration then we won't suspend you for the entire year...just a few games. It would be in your best interest to do so."

Gah! I'm getting tired of all this bull****.

This is why I said in another thread that Hargrove is probably going to hide in a hole somewhere. I didn't really think he would have wanted his statement released. It definitely going to cast some doubt about him in the locker room.

I agree that by him not elaborating on his "words were mischaracterized" doesn't help him in the least.

If they told him they wouldn't release the document and, well, it was 'released' by leakage by the NFL, can he sue? LOL LORD I HOPE SO!

:o

saintsfan1976 05-09-2012 11:05 PM

So what exactly was mischaracterized? Your words or our intent??

jeanpierre 05-10-2012 05:43 AM

Judas!

Neaux Gumbeaux for you!

TheOak 05-10-2012 06:49 AM

"leaked by someone"??????
Wasn't it the frikken NFLPA that sent that to the league?
This is like Vilma finding out of his suspension watching ESPN, the NFLPA had to have known... Its the NFLPA leaking.

"Hargrove said he only issued the sworn statement to assist the league in its investigation."
Don't you mean persecution?

"But since they did, and because they grossly mischaracterized my words,"
Hey buddy.... There is a difference between characterized and displayed. They displayed YOUR OWN WORDS... hardly a mischaracterization.

So at this point I have faith that neither Vitt nor Williams instructed Hargrove to play dumb.

They didnt have to, it is an attribute that takes no acting for Hargrove.

SapperSaint 05-10-2012 09:02 AM

This whole, (They turned my words around) crap; is just that, crap.

Anthony,

I know you are mad because the Saints didn't keep you. However, when words are written and you have these thingies (" ") it means qouted. It tells people this is what you or someone else said.

You signed this document. If you didn't read it before you signed it then you Sir, are an idiot. You have just told every team, player, owner, coach and fan; that you will cover your own butt and throw whoever under the bus. By lying or telling the truth.

You dug this whole on your own. Hope you enjoy the view.

So there in lies the question.

Did he tell the truth and then lie as directed to by the NFL?
Did he lie as directed to by Williams then tell the truth to cover? (he still got punished so I do not know what he was getting)
Did he lie on both accounts and somewhere in the middle is the truth?

In any account he looks like a dumbazz that is always looking out for Numero Uno.

SapperSaint 05-10-2012 09:54 AM

Same crap with Chris Carter.

We all know Chris Carter was not the most liked team mate.

He is saying he put "Bounties" on players. (But they aren't like the Saints' bounties)

He says Romonoski said "I'm gonna end your career Carter!" ( Romo says he never said those words to a player, ever.)

The entire NFL is in a mess right now with only Roger Godell to blame.

Ok, if he did or didn't tell the Saints to stop the "bounty" program is beside the point. Roger should have done the following in my opinion.

1. KEEP THIS IN THE NFL AND OUT OF THE MEDIA! POLICE YOURSELF!

2. During the Annual Owners/Coaches/NFL heads meeting. He should have addressed the deal with them and told ALL OF THEM, he was aware of what was going on and made them sign the stupid memorandum that ALL OF THEM are to stop the "bounty" programs, effective immediately. With punishment to follow if a team continues.

He failed to do this. If you crap in the bed, you don't tell everyone. You and your spouse clean it up and keep it between yourselves. Now you have players trying to keep their jobs (So to speak) willing to say whatever to "Clear" their names, and former players running off at the mouth without thinking about what they are saying (ie Kurt Warner: "My kids will never play football because it is a dangerous sport")(Chris Carter: "Hell yeah I put bounties on players. But they weren't bounties like the Saints")

You and only you are to blame for this crap Roger Godell! You tried to make a name for yourself and it is blowing up in your face! You have crapped in your own bed my friend and the whole World is watching you try to put the blame on others. All the while, you still have poop all over you.

You desreve whatever happens to you.

TheOak 05-10-2012 09:57 AM

Here is a document I would LOVE to see....

Dear Saints,

Stop your bounty program.

Roger Goodell
2009

IF it exists.

darstep 05-10-2012 10:29 AM

This whole thing should have been an internal NFL family matter.
But the way it was handled has caused it to be front page gossip column news.
From the looks of it, it's going to be news for a while.
Everytime someone gets blown up, some talking head is going to ask if a bounty
was put out on that guy.
Every new injury will break the crust on this turd and stir up the stink once again.
It's not going away.

saintfan 05-10-2012 11:05 AM

Because of the way Roger chose to handle this thing, the NFL must now police language. If a coach tells a player to "knock the crap out of that guy"...I mean...the league can, on Roger's whim, take that to mean the coach has instructed the player to disembowel the other guy.

Good job Roger...you freakin tool...

And having crap every where would be a bio-hazard and jeopardize player safety.

Boutte 05-10-2012 11:27 AM

I think it was the media who mischaracterized his statement. Does Hargrove say at any point that he was told to lie? Seems to me like the statement was very carefully worded to avoid saying that he actually lied to the league.

QBREES9 05-10-2012 11:36 AM

everything gets twisted.

NOLA54 05-10-2012 11:38 AM

Well I'm confused. I think his suspension was reduced because he gave the NFL what they wanted. Regardless if whether it is true or not. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Still don't understand what was mischaracterized. Being let go by the Saints is motivation enough for one to take revenge.

When did he give his sworn statement & why didn't Goodell act sooner rather than 3 years later?

Shocker... well not really.

Rugby Saint II 05-10-2012 02:47 PM

He's the convict that the DA brings in to give circumstantial evidence when they don't have anything credible.

SaintsBro 05-10-2012 02:57 PM

I said this the other day, and I really do recommend it. Read the whole sworn Hargrove statement TWICE. The second time you read it, you see a lot more of the detail in it, and it is completely different on the second read from the first impression you might get from it. He clearly does not say or admit what the NFL says he said there.

The mischaracterizing he was talking about was when the league said that the declaration proved that a bounty system existed and that he and other players actively participated in the bounty system. They also said that he was instructed to lie by the coaches. The declaration says NONE of those things. That's what he was talking about. He said the league was taking what was on paper and twisted it around and made stretches of logic and called them "proof".

Exactly. And that's what Hargrove is trying to point out. That is the "mischaracterization" of which he speaks.
