Brees wants to lead Saints to Super Bowl

Last week, Drew Brees caused a bit of a stir when he said he was frustrated by the lack of progress in his contract talks with the New Orleans Saints.

It doesn’t sound like anything new has happened in the negotiations, but Brees didn’t sound as irritated in this interview with XX 1090 Sports Radio in San Diego.

“I understand that in the NFL, certainly after going through those negotiations last year during the lockout and the CBA negotiations, that certainly there is a business element to all of this that we all have to go through from time-to-time,’’ Brees said. “It’s not the fun part cause in the end we love this game. We love playing football. We love the interaction with the fans. We love what this game means to so many people. As quickly as we can all get back on the field and start playing ball again the better.”

It seems like cooler heads are prevailing, on all fronts. Rita's got a new gig. Brees seems in better spirits. Now that Brees has mellowed, maybe ( praying) Loomis will give Drew the call to come on home.

This **** is getting so frustratingly confusing! One week the media are reporting, they're getting close to a finalization, the next week they report they are not close and haven't talked in awhile. Then you have Drew getting on the radio all frustrated and two days later he's in a better mood about it!

It's all part of the game, all the big time free agents do this stuff. Well, except for those who are fortunate enough to be on a team that isn't strapped for cash at the time.. when the pressure you and your agent have put on the team isn't getting you results you add pressure from outside by trying to get public opinion in your favor. Too bad for drew and ol tommy conman, they had us all wrong. I think they also underestimated the FO. I credit those guys for taking a hard stance and still just smiling and nodding and agreeing with every little tidbit like this that comes up... But whatever. Ultimately it will get done. Everyone wants him here, and I believe he really wants to be here.. its just gonna take time

I understand especially now that he has a family he wants enough money to secure their future even though money isn't worth much these days.

LOL

Well..... The contract is 99% done.. So that would be "close". All that is left is a couple of numbers in one block and a signature in another.

:-)
