Cole Evidence called into question: League revises its ledger leak

Cole initially reported that the ledger reveals that three $1,000 payments were made as a result of the Saints’ September 2009 game against the Bills. After PFT pointed out that four Bills were injured during the game and that three play defense, Cole’s report was revised to replace the game against the Bills with the November 8, 2009 game against Panthers.

Which brings into the question can any players be punished for what happened before the 2011 CBA?

I say if that is the case and this goes to court someone on the NFL's side better have something dated 2011 of this gets over turned.

Apparently there was only one cart off in the Panthers game..

Stay tuned for a third leak... Interesting they are saying someone in the NFL misread the ledger... Must not be very clear who was paid for what on that "ledger"..

FinSaint 06-02-2012 06:46 AM

When I was watching NFLN last night, they had Cole on via phone and he said that the Bills game was not one of the two games that had an exclamation point accompanying the $1,000 payment, which they assume means that the in game cart off resulted in the player being carted off being put on IR. Cole said that he was still trying to figure out what games those were.

And he was just talking about games in 2009, nothing later than that. Also he did say that the ledger was handwritten and by an assisting coach under GW, but refused to say anything more detailed in order to protect the person who had written the ledger.

Beastmode 06-02-2012 08:23 AM

The video report Cole released yesterday has been removed.
Hand written, no author, and no one to corroborare it's use or existence..that is one spade tight piece of evidence.

I love how the league can't show the union or the players the evidence but information can get "Leaked". What a bunch of horse sh!t! Yeah cuz none of this looks funny..I am so over this crap!

Double Leak Required

Quote:

There can be little doubt that the NFL, which has refused to provide to the NFLPA or to the media evidence of the alleged bounty system in New Orleans, leaked to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports information regarding a ledger supposedly maintained by the Saints during the 2009 season.

There can now be little doubt that the NFL got its first leak wrong, requiring another leak to fix the first leak.
This is becoming GAME OVER for the NFL. Their evidence is SO SHADY that they have to leak it Yahoo sports without announcing it or sharing it with the public, then they get the facts wrong and have to re-leak it to correct it.

The NFL cannot be trusted and their totalitarian practices, combined with the monopoly they hold in this profession, need to be looked at as criminal mischief and tampering.

saintfan 06-02-2012 09:34 AM

Nothing the NFL has strategically leaked means anything. None of it would stand any scrutiny and it looks like this is just another attempt by the NFL to sway public opinion.

Why leak this stuff? Why refuse to show it to those 'convicted' already? Good questions and I think we all know the answer...

Rugby Saint II 06-02-2012 11:48 AM

Saintfan hit it on the head!!! Without information they leak unreliable info so that the public will believe it. People are sheep and will listen to anybody without evidence and then make a decision on guilt.
Baaaaaa Baaaaaaa Baaaaaaa

Beat me to it. Add Cole to the list getting sued after Goodell loses

Alright, I'm on board with all of you conspiracy theorists!!! I was a holdout, thinking that surely there was no real reason the NFL would lie, but the more I see about this issue the more it's blatantly obvious that something stinks. A lot of shadiness around this whole thing.

Saints4lyfe 06-02-2012 03:47 PM

Is it possible to sue Cole for defamation?

He made sure not to mention any names in his report but I don't think that alone could clear him. He made a generalized statement about a specific aspect of the team during a specific game. Any of those players could say it was slander IMO.

pherein 06-02-2012 09:34 PM

LOL $1000 ? Really ? These guys make that for 1 minute of work. Thats like $1 to them, lol. I don't think a player would even spend the time to pick up that check.
Thats like trying to pay a professional hit man $5 to kill your wife, lol. Then claiming it on your tax return.

NOLA54 06-02-2012 10:56 PM

Who & why would the Saints keep a ledger. It doesn't make sense.

Exactly! The more this goes on, the worse it's looking for ol' Goodell & Co.

NOS2SB 06-03-2012 03:16 AM

I don't see how any of this could stand up in a court of law unless they have a witness who either wrote the ledger or saw first hand what was going on. Either way, I saw the report from Vilma's lawyer that said the ledger awarded players for clean hits and punished for illegal ones.

UK_WhoDat 06-03-2012 11:08 AM

Heck when they've patched up dem leaks and got the . cough..cough... evidence running, they have to publicise other stuff to account for the alleged continuing bounty program in 2010 /2011.

Gosh! we will be flooded with leaked . cough..cough... information!

CheramieIII 06-03-2012 12:47 PM

The Biggest question of them all is, when does the NFL and Media stop the slander against the Saints. Damn you know their angry that we won the Superbowl. I guess we'll have to win it again this year. They all need to go truck themselves.

Arrogance of Goodell and the NFL re: Vilma

Vilma isn't going to. Remember this case is strictly Vilma v. Goodell, not the NFL and their "Bountygate" in general.

The goal is for the defense to bring the NFL into the discussion so ALL the evidence can be discovered. This "leger leak" is exactly what the plantiff's (Vilma) attorney expected and wants.

It's like the NFL and commissioner are playing into the hands of Vilma and his legal team like a guard dog incapable of overlooking a ribeye steak thrown on the ground. Goodell's, and the NFL's, arrogance and reckless behavior are on trial in the court of public opinion and with each one of these "leaks" people are losing more and more faith in these nazi's.

At this point, there isn't a jury in America that has faith in Goodell and the NFL. This will work against them IN THE EXTREME.
