PROVO, Utah (April 25, 2004) -- It took until the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft, but that didn't matter to BYU's Colby Bockwoldt, he was willing to wait. Whether as a draft pick or as a free agent, he just wanted to have an opportunity to compete.

Bockwoldt, a native of Sunset, Utah, was watching a movie with his wife Ashley (and keeping an eye on the draft) when his phone started ringing around noon on Sunday. As the draft was approaching the 240th selection--having already talked to several coaches and general managers throughout the day--New Orleans Saints' head coach Jim Haslett called.

"He asked me if I was nervous," Bockwoldt said from his home in Provo. "I told him I just wished someone would draft me. He said, 'Well, let's take care of that.' I was on the phone with him when I saw my name flash up on the television. It has been an exciting day."

Let\'s hope Haz has the same courage to do the same when he cuts the guy!

I don\'t know... I kind a like this guy and think he might make the roster.

Odds are against it, but it has happened before. If he doesn\'t, I do hope Haz has the same \"respect\" for the guy. I expect the Saints to pick up one or two vets after June 1 or through a trade.

Sure the odds are against it but this kid is class and excited to be playing and will make the most of it. I think as a reserve or special teams he could make a difference though.

You betcha he is excited to be \"chosen\" and having the opportunity. That does not exclude the fact that he has a long row to hoe!
