Robert Meachem was a role player (not star)

His role in the offense was very similar to Henderson's

Role players are replaceable, especially when they want more money

Don't think he'll ever be a star, but the guy made plays. Hopefully one of the newer guys will step up.

Can you read??? Moore had 928 yds. w/ 10 (double digits) TD's in 2008! And.....Lance rarely drops the ball. Damn.....some people want to just argue for the sake of arguement!

Funny......Lance Moore had seasons of 928 yds w/ 10 TDS, 763 w/ 8 TDS, & 627 w/ 8 TDS. Jimmy Graham, though a TE, is coming off of a 1310 yds/11 TD season. Meachem's best.........722 yds. w/ 9TDS. Hell......Sproles had over 700 yds & 7 TDs receiving last year. And Meachem was a 1st round draft pick!!! Notice.....there was no need to post Colston's stats.

Not sure I see your point Gandhi. Meachem's 700+ yd/9 TD season is pretty darn good. The guy obviously didn't turn out to warrant a first round draft pick, but he's a good receiver. The reason he never put up huge numbers is because, as others have mentioned, Bree's spreads the ball around so much. If Morgan turned out to be a replica of Meachem, that's a huge win for us (especially value-wise).

Why is everyone hating on Meachem? To be frank, if it hadn't been for Meachem's ball-stripping touchdown (and also his last-minute touchdown in the 4th quarter) against the Redskins in 2009 we would have been playing the NFC Championship game in Minnesota that year.

And Meachem had 10 total touchdowns in '09 and if it weren't for his excellent burst downfield, defenses could have doubled Colston at will.

Just to clear this stat up a bit, 2008 is when Coston was out and Moore became the number 1 receiver. I liked Meachem but he's not worth the money the Chargers paid him. You need to be willing to go over the middle to comand that kind of money in my book.
