I live in Virginia now but am looking forward to going back home for this game. I have this friendly rivalry with a buddy of mine and we've gone to the last couple Saints/Skins games at FedEx. He's still got a sour taste in his mouth from that Meachem strip in '09 :)
Anyway, He will be taking the trip as well (his first to N.O) so it'll be nice for him to have some allies lol

Davey, I went to the Lions @ Saints game in December. The saints fans were AMAZING. I avoided wearing my Lions jersey out downtown because although the fans were great, I would not want one of the waiters in a restaurant to let the chef know "shrimp po boy...and it's for a Lions fan!". I don't need any "extra sauce" on my food. I'm just paranoid that way.
Inside the dome, there was friendly ribbing from the Saints fans, but there were also plenty of compliments/friendly things said about my team. I've been to plenty of away games, and New Orleans is BY FAR the best road trip you will make. Have fun!

Never got in a fight or anything, but saw a few break out. Also had a nasty altercation with some FoulCons fans on the MARTA, messing with my sister - who had joined me at the game because my wife wouldn't return to the Georgia Dome after the previous season!

I've found the Georgia Dome a pretty unfriendly place for Saints fans. FoulCons are the only fans I'd support being uncivil toward here, eye-for-an-eye and all that ...

I'm not surprised- you get that mob mentality on MARTA and at the stations. Once inside it's usually more cordial.

Two years ago (after we won the SB) I was at the Atl Monday or Sunday night game that we needed to win for the wildcard. The guy behind me looks at my Saints shirt and starts yelling "Raise your hand if you're a wildcard team, Raise you're hand if you're a wildcard team!"
I turned around and said, " I can't, my Super Bowl ring is too heavy."
Even Falcon fans were smiling at him.

My ugliest experiences at the Georgia Dome were during the Vick years. Something of a thug mentality among FoulCons fans in those days, and my wife just got sick of the bullcrap & wouldn't go back. As she said then, "we can't afford to pay money for that."

I've never been back to the Georgia Dome for a Saints game since the MARTA thing ... guess that woulda been the '05 or '06 season. Maybe they're a little better now that we've won a Super Bowl!

Hey guys. So a guy over on the Skins board says Galactic is going to be playing at Tipitina's the Saturday night before the game. I think I should go check it out... I hear great things.

If I was coming in from out of town, that is probably what I would do. They are a really good band. I'm local, so I only go see them when it's free (no cover), or if I can get my name on the guest list, LOL. But I saw them back in May and they really put on a good show.

would be my suggestion as well, unless you go in for Voodoo or Jazzfest, they're always there as well.

Game is 26 days away and only 24 days until I fly out. Wow time is going by very quickly.

What do you guys want to see from your Saints in preparation for opening day?

Galactic would be an excellent choice, and Tips is a great venue. I'd recommend it highly!

I absolutely love the city and the people are always friendly. I have heard from a lot of Redskins fans about the experience from the Superdome, but I would like to get some Saints perspectives.

We plan on hitting Bourbon St. on Friday and Saturday nights wearing our jerseys. Is this asking for trouble? Or is it something that could maybe spark some beers and friendly discussion/ light trash talking (in the spirit of fun of course) about the game the next day? How is the walk to the Superdome?

I am really looking forward to visiting one of my favorite cities and having a good time meeting new people. Cheers!

Wearing your jerseys definitely will not be a problem unless you're sensitive to good natured trash talking. Start out at Pat Obriens with a hurricane and then just bar hop. Nights before games are always a blast.

I always walk to the SuperDome from the Quarter. It's about a mile and is always a fun walk. The only problem is that it will probably be pretty hot.

Nice... apparently Johnny Whites is going to give us a balcony and let us decorate it with Skins crap Saturday night.

Looking at my tickets, a buddy of mine has me worried. Section 107 row 31. Some seats down in FedEX in the corners are what we call "the cave" It can be a bit obstructed with the over hang and crap like that. Anybody ever sit near there?

I have (I think). Last year when we destroyed the Giants I sat there. Seats aren't bad. It's weird having the overhang, but there are also flat screen TVs right in front of you (assuming we are talking about the same area).

Nah, you should be okay.

Check this out (obviously, click on "NFL" and then "Saints"

Ballena Technologies, Inc.

You can type in your seat number and it shows you the view, etc

Oh wow that is definitely cool... thanks! I love me some technology!

Seats look great. Very excited to sit in this legendary stadium.

Me too, Davey. I just checked my flight and made some dinner reservations.
Good luck, but not too much. Have a good trip.

A message from the public service department: Residents know this but out of towners keep your wallet and cell phone in your front pockets! I stopped 2 punk kids from trying to pick my cousins pocket after the Saints/Texans preseason game. Notice them walking next to my cousin so I dropped back to see what they were up to and when my cousin stopped at one of the intersections on Bourbon they tried to bump into him and take his wallet. The punks arm and shoulder probably stopped hurting this week.
