Exclamation Notes from Saints camp

Notes: The Saints also signed running back Joe Banyard after the completion of minicamp. Like McCown, Banyard was with the Saints on a three-day tryout this week. ... Starting RT Zach Strief wound sat out a fourth-straight practice on Thursday after rolling his right ankle in the opening practice of minicamp. He said the injury is minor, that he rested as a precaution, and that he expects to practice next week. ... RB Chris Ivory sat out a second straight day with what Vitt has said is a minor hamstring pull. ... The Saints announced that they will hold training camp, as usual, at their suburban New Orleans headquarters and that it will open on July 27.

Report: The New Orleans Saints have made a new contract offer to QB Drew Brees - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN

Booby Hebert was praising some young UDFA TE out of Wisconsin yesterday. Said he's been impressive. Excellent blocker has shown some good hands.

Jake Byrne - 6-4" 260 lbs.

I did. This dude can't stay healthy for sh!t!! It being mini camp is even worse. He must not be taking care of himself during the offseason. Hell these OTA's and mini camps have been glorified walkthroughs and he is already hurt? Sad but true!

Goodell will probably find a reason to suspend him anyway so he can use the time to heal up!

We might have two Badger's making an impact next year. Hell, if Byrne can ball then keep the cat and give Nick Toon someone to hang with. We don't know how much of an effect David Thomas is going to have with the concussions and what not... so why not get a bit younger with a blocking TE?!
