Pats fan checking in. This deal is huge for you guys, with regards to dealing with Graham.

Exactly what I thought when I heard it... We are going to be hurting next year.
Brees + Jimmy = Bad News for some non producing and injury prone players. |

I think we all knew that when Jimmy's contract came up he would be looking at around $50 million for a 6 year contract. Brees's contract was always going to hurt us with any cap room whatsoever but at the end of next year we have serious decisions to make re some other massive earners on defence.
Do we really want to be paying Vilma what we pay him? Assume he misses the season. He's got a duff knee. And he is that much older. I'd cut him right now and pay Jimmy frankly! Then there is Will Smith who is paid an astronomical amount to be a mediocre player in my opinion. We either start freeing up cap space this season and plan for Jimmy or we'll be letting him go. I want him to stay. Brees and Graham is as good or better than Brady and Gronk. |

 This is exactly why I typically side with Loomis on negotiations, and why Condon can go screw himself. Did anyone think Loomis wasn't looking forward to Graham's monster contract? Thats why Loomis didn't want all that Brees money front-loaded. It'll prevent us from signing players like Graham. Loomis is the man. If there was a man I wanna pay, its Loomis. |
