Saints Claim WR Derek Moye Off of Waivers; Waive WR Malcolm Beyah

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the team has claimed WR Derek Moye off waivers from the Miami Dolphins. The club has also waived WR Malcolm Beyah.

Moye, a 6-5, 210-pound wideout, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State, signing with the Dolphins in May. In four seasons for the Nittany Lions, the Rochester, Pa. native finished his college career with 144 receptions for 2,395 yards (16.6 avg.) and 18 touchdowns.

Yawn. We have more quality WR's than we know what to do with right now.

Things are looking GREAT on the WR front.

We really didn't need to upgrade WR, at all. It may be our deepest position on offense even without Meachem.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks we may be open for trading Devery? Cap relief and a decent player in return?

Anything is possible, but I think Colston, Henderson & Moore are fairly secure.

Sounds like the pre-draft scouting report on Colston

Aside from the injuries it seems that all the negatives about this guy can be simply solved with some bulking up and catching drills.

The problem is that's what college is for

Bring him, we'll take a look

Personally, I enjoy the luxury of having WR's on the practice squad that will be ready to step in when the older WR's are winding down. Just like this year. Robert Meachem wanted to leave and AA, and Joe Morgan are ready to step up as is the rook Toon. Now we have a few more.

QBREES9 06-13-2012 11:20 PM

I want to see what AA is going to be able to do this year.

I think this may be the case, assuming the competition stays healthy throughout camp. Im waiting to see how durable Morgan is.

Dude has been given every chance in the world. His refusal to play special teams will be the end of him.

Exactly what I was thinking. Having another 6´5 guy wouldn't hurt.

It's kinda good to have an embarrassment of riches at WR... this this guy is likely at best a practice squad body.

He hasn't refused to play specials teams, he's just not very good at it.

a lot of question marks in the wr position after you get past the starting three. keep the door open and keep looking.
