Florio continues to question Goodell

Vilma

"Instead of giving the players a chance to get to the truth, the league seems to be relying on the same “take our word for it” approach that has characterized its entire handling of the pay-for-performance/bounty scandal. It’s an approach that was launched the moment the league duped the media on March 2 into thinking there had to be conclusive proof of a bounty system, and that has lasted through each subsequent effort not to share evidence but to characterize and/or summarize it in a way that was skewed toward the league’s desire to hammer the Saints for using bounties, presumably to serve as the ultimate warning for any other players or coaches who may be tempted to use bounties in the future."

This was my favorite part of the article, he really has been hammering Goodell and the NFL. It's really frustrating that these players will never get a fair hearing. Unfortunately these "hearings" will come and go quickly and quietly because Florio is the only media member from a major outlet who is questioning the NFL. Most non-Saints fans have stopped following the story and assume the "cart-offs", "knock-outs", 50,000 pages, and $10,000 bounties were true and proven because the media stopped covering the story. As a result of this, the NFL isn't being pressured to release their "evidence." If the search for the truth had as much coverage as the scandal got, I think these players could get a fair hearing, but unfortunately that isn't happening. I think New Orleans being a small market is really hurting the Saints. If this happened in New York there would be multiple reporters screaming at the top of their lungs about this injustice and the national media would catch on and demand the NFL to release the evidence. The NFL only cares about their image and a small market like New Orleans can't generate enough momentum nationwide to hurt their image. I'll be shocked if we ever see the "evidence" and this really ticks me off.

Yeah, we've been saying this all along - where you been Florio??

I like how Florio goes "all lawyer" on the NFL now that real lawyers are involved.

Maybe PFT should come here for news.
