News
Saints' second-round draft pick Devery Henderson will return kickoffs and punts this season. Head coach Jim Haslett told the Associated Press that Henderson will also be given the opportunity to win one of the starting receiver jobs. "Obviously, you can see the great speed, and he can block and play special teams," Haslett said over the weekend. "We're going to try him at kick-returner, and we had him catching punts. He was pretty smooth, pretty natural doing that. Devery has the ability to do whatever he wants to do. It's up to him. We're going to play the best players." The Saints selected Henderson in the second round of the draft with the No. 50 overall pick.

Veteran Joe Horn is the only Saints' receiver who is considered a lock to be in the starting lineup on opening day. Haslett was not happy with the play of Jerome Pathon or Donte Stallworth last season, which could open the door for Henderson to earn a starting job as a receiver. In addition to the top three receivers, Henderson will also compete with Michael Lewis, Germane Crowell, Talman Gardner, and Derrick Lewis for playing time. It will be difficult to determine Henderson's fantasy prospects until the team determines whether he will be a starting receiver this season.

My idea that Michael Lewis may be cut could be coming closer to fruition. I\'ll miss the 2002 Lewis, but if 2003 was any indication of where his career was headed, I\'m not going to miss him at all. After he took a hard shot in pre-season, he ran EVERY SINGLE KICKOFF to the sidelines. He became nervous and scared, it seemed. Now with Henderson and Stecker on the team, there are two capable return men. Speed is definitely matched with Henderson, and Stecker being a running back, isn\'t afraid to take a hit. Vaya con dios, cerveza hombre.

People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.

To quote myself ...
Henderson isn\'t a bad pick, especially if he can take over as the primary kick/punt returner.
Sorry, beerman, but I like that change. Henderson has big play potential as a returner. The Lewis boys will not be on this team on opening day.

oh man, im getting our voted lol, I do think henderson will be a better fit but I doubt seriously that he was ever scared to do anything, no matter if he went down the side lines or up the middle he got slammed.

We\'ll see. I do think that this spells the end of Lewis\' days as a Saint no matter what. Stallworth can be a returner also, so there\'s no need for a 160 pound WR. I sure hope Henderson can be the receiver Stallworth was supposed to be.

One thing that does have me a little excited this year is our receivers. If Horn can stay healthy and Stallworth can become even a shadow of the player we thought he would be... add in an explosive Devery and a FOURTH WR like Pathon, Crowell, D Lewis, or Gardener and this team could be real explosive at that position again. I like what I see at WR, I\'ll say that much. Now we just need Stallworth to buck up. This is an all or nothing type year for him where I\'m concerned.

Don\'t get too excited WhoDat, remember who is throwing them the ball... I\'m sure none of them will catch a pass in the first quarter of any game this season.

In all seriousness though, this is going to be a great WR corps this year.

:P

As long as we have really fast O-linemen to fall on the fumbles we should be OK. :P

Leon can\'t do everything!

In honor of today: (you may have heard this)

Most people don\'t know that back in 1912, Hellmann\'s mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after it stopped in New York.

This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico.... But as we know....the great ship did not make it to New York....The ship hit an iceberg and sank....and the cargo was forever lost....

The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery....were disconsolate at the loss....

Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning which they still observe to this day.... The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th.... and is known....of course

....as Sinko de Mayo....
