Now NFL changes from "injure" to "unable to play"

Also, the dueling soundbites from the league and Brees further illustrate that, ultimately, the bounty case has become an exercise in semantics. No players were paid to injure other players. Instead, the Saints created a system for financially rewarding players who in the normal course of delivering big, clean, legal hits rendered an opponent unable to play in all or part of the remainder of the game. Though that’s one of the realities of a game in which success is premised partially on attrition, the league believes that creating that kind of incentive could lead to deliberate attempts to injure, whether through legal hits or through illegal hits.

League reiterates belief that bounty evidence is

What's it going to be next week "unable to dance in the endzone" I'm so sick and tired of all this "bounty" talk, can't wait for the season to start

Please tell me you don't really believe it is going to end once the season starts!

An exercise in semantics......I couldn't have said it better.

TheOak 06-28-2012 01:42 PM

Lets just take it all the way to "emotionally scarred", and have a "picking on me" penalty, fine, and suspension.

SaintsBro 06-28-2012 02:03 PM

Just keep moving the goalposts around on this bounty thing of yours, Goodell, keep wiggling and waffling, it makes you look really fair and impartial!

Oh I know it won't because I can already see that before, during and after every game one of the talking idiots will bring up the offseason and the "bounty" and the "wiretapping" and "suspensions" and "Drew's contract" and whatever else Goddell and his SS troops find on the Saints it looks like I might have to watch the games with the sound off this season since I don't get WWL where I live.

I haven't turned on ESPN or NFL networks since this started to spiral. I'm thinking of canceling NFL network.

ESPN comes with the advanced package (also comes with basic) and I do like to watch college football on there, but honestly this all cured me of my addiction to watching the ESPN scroll-er and listening to their BS news.

I've cured most of it by tuning out... also made me more productive business-wise LOL.

..."the league believes that creating that kind of incentive COULD lead to deliberate attempts to injure, whether through legal hits or through illegal hits."

So there never was a bounty system to injure players on purpose or one that they can prove. All this was over something that COULD have potentially caused a problem. Firing two coaches and numerous players over something that has no basic other than a staunch opinion. All the leaking of "evidence" month after month after month to come to the conclusion that it didn't prove anything other than RG can run around with a chainsaw blindfolded and nobody can stop him.

I already dropped their asses. I will watch grainy chopped up internet feed for free on firstrow sports. Before the nfl gets any of my money. ( I dont care if direct tv pays them or not) They still are making money.

The number of allegations are overwhelming, I'll give them that much. The amount of factual evidence that would hold up in a court of law...I'm still waiting for it.

Zebra - "Personal foul...Defense...Hitting a player hard enough hurt. And number 51 is ejected from the game... please reset the game clock to the beginning of atrocity."

Seer1 06-28-2012 09:13 PM

Hate to mention this scumbag, but once the Steelers started to win... all of a sudden Rothelsberger was "redeemed". If we can run the table for a while, we will be the absolute gold(and black)en boys of the year.

QBREES9 06-29-2012 12:04 AM

OMG stop all ready. Stupid PC F'n world.

I think "hurt feelings" is only a 10 yard penalty, but its an automatic 1st down. :)
