Charlie Clemons was released from the Texans. Maybe a pick up for depth at LB, granted he's older, but i liked the guy alot when he played for the Saints. He's not a huge playmaker, but he's almost always around the play. Less of a reactive LB. Plays with instinct. I think with all the injuries, he would be good depth if not break the starting line-up.

We let him go because his skills were deteriorating and the LB\'s we had were better than he was. I know thats sad to hear but its the truth.
He struggled in Houston and they were very disappointed in him.
I think Roger Knight would beat him out now.
He was a good player that got too old.
Are we that desperate at LB to consider Clemons?

I don\'t think so. Our LB\'s are very young, very strong and very fast.
I think they will step up this year. Not great, but a boatload better than the unit showed last year.

Allen will push Hodge for the SLB. One should emerge.
Grant, Watson and Ruff will fight for the MLB, the winner should be adequate to above average.
Rodgers and the loser of the MLB spot between Grant/Watson should emerge as a solid WLB. Throw in the kid Colby and the competition is sweet.

Will they be great next year? Probably not.
Will they be much better than last year? I have absolutely no doubt at all they will.
Clemons would simply retard the development of this extremely young unit.

If they want an experienced role model type LB, they should just keep Darrin Smith, who could probably play all 3 spots if necessary for several games before he crumbles into a foul heap of rotting carcass.

We don\'t need any depth on D, we need studs to come in and start. There was an injury to clemons last season and he is getting older... I say no.

I agree with Danno in that his production has sagged and I don\'t think he\'s worth picking up. I\'d say part of his downfall started in NO when the Saints moved him from OLB where he led the team in tackles and sacks to MLB where he really wasn\'t suited to play. In any case, it\'s not worth it now.

We don\'t need him. The Saints will go after Trottier and give back the second round pick to the Skin\'s. Clemmons had his chance with the Saints and proved that\'s all it was a chance.
