What Nick Toon can expect

It’s pretty obvious what fourth-round draft pick Nick Toon can expect in a contract from the New Orleans Saints.

As the only unsigned New Orleans draft pick, Toon is looking at a deal that can’t be worth over $491,900 thousand this season and can’t exceed $3.18 million over the life of the contract. Those are the numbers for what the Saints have in their rookie pool for this year and for the life of the contracts for this year’s draft class.

He can expect to see the field enough that we rework his contract with a nice long term extension.

I gave this a like, but then thought about it some more and I'm not sure I should have now...:p

I had the same apprehensions after I posted... Then thought to my self.. Its fairly obvious he couldn't expect balls to be placed anywhere else.

I suppose I should elaborate for clarity so there is no misconception...

Until Drew signs it will be Chases balls in Nicks hands then it will be Drew's balls in Nick's hands..

Better?

Can we expect Nick Toon to sign Soon?

Think they were just trying to see how much we'd have left after drews deal before signing toon, so do you guys think his signing will be imminent?

BREES SIGNED!! It's a great day!!!

No reason to believe otherwise as he's been practicing with us the entire off season. Those draft picks are pretty much slotted... not really anything to negotiate.

Utah_Saint 07-13-2012 05:57 PM

I think I read somewhere that the Saints can only offer Toon $491K. (only pfft. Wish my boss could ONLY offer me half a million this year)

Rookies salaries come from a separate pool and between the loss of draft picks through trade and penalty decreasing the size of the Saints pool this year and what they've already spent on their other draft picks, that's all that's left.

EDIT: Actually, I read it here, in the "What Nick Toon Can Expect" thread.

EDIT #2: I coulda swore there was another thread about Toon and this post was in it. (que twilight zone theme music) Gettin old sucks.
