No.. he wants long term deal, and the 23.6 next year will kill the salary cap.. so the Saints do not want that either.

Latest delta:

Saints offer 19.25/year and Brees wants 20.5/year..

Drew Brees reportedly tells New Orleans Saints: no long-term contract, no camp - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com

Is this gonna crumble for 1.25 mil? Sheesh!

19.875 is the middle... Thats is what is going to happen.

I think Brees deserves to be the highest paid QB, he is the best in the league for the past 4-6 years. BUT, within reason, if the number is 25, come on. As much as I would hate to see it, it would be time to readjust our thinking. Brees has the best chance at another SB (or more) with the system in NO and thats not rocket science. I hope it's all BS and we are rejoicing july 17.

Are we SURE that Drew is not holding out of camp so that he and Sean can have contact with each other? It just seems so inconsistent with Drew's character that he would be risking his reputation with the league and with fans for a million dollars give or take a little. I mean he can make up the difference if there is any in endorsements over and over again! I love Drew to pieces, and he has done so much for the organization, city and state that you cannot put a dollar amt. on, but I have to say that if he is going to mess up the whole season over this petty stuff, then I am starting to question his judgment and character. And that is something I don't want to do. I know we cannot have him as our QB forever, but I don't think anyone really saw this coming. Are there any scenarios that you can think of that are logical reasons why he would hold out this long?

How much pay would you decline so your co-workers opinions didn't change?

Worth Every Million!

Drew is worth every Million. All us Old Saints fans remember where we were before Drew arrived. You never knew from year to year how the team would do. Now the Who Dat Nation knows we will be in the Hunt every year with Drew as our QB and Team Leader!
You also have to remember what The Chargers did to Drew so I don't blame him for not trusting some of what I call "The Suits". He is totally devoted to the Fans of the Who Dat Nation and the Team in my opinion. Just my thoughts.

Agreed Majsmith and welcome to the boards. If Drew signs we will be in the hunt every year.

If he doesn't it will be just like the old days when we were in the hunt almost yearly for the right QB. Longest period of stability we've seen at the position.
