News from Saint's workouts
 

The Saints got back on the practice field Tuesday for the first of 12 coaching session workouts scheduled for the next four weeks at the club's Metairie facility.

Rain in the area moved the scheduled workout into the indoor facility and the players worked for about 90 minutes.

"We have some new guys out here and obviously they're here to learn the offense, defense and special teams," said Saints Coach Jim Haslett. "It's really to get our rhythm and timing back. We're doing some new things on offense and it is really a learning process."

When there is a large amount of returnees to the roster like the Saints have, the goals of the coaching sessions are simple, according to Haslett.

"For us, we have a lot of the same guys back, so we have continuity," he said. "We have to get the new guys up to speed to what we're doing."

One topic of conversation was the amount of good receivers the club has to choose from this season.
