New Orleans Saints fans are anxiously awaiting an agreement to be reached between the team and franchise quarterback Drew Brees. A long-term contract should finally be sealed before the July 16 deadline, securing Brees' place as the team's leader over the next few years. However, the Saints will soon have another set of contracts to address, following an offseason when Robert Meachem, Carl Nicks and other contributing players chose to sign with new teams.

Loomis likes to give some players longer deals than others. 4-6 years seems to be the average contract. There are a few 3 year deals done but that is mostly to UDFA's I believe. The players he locks in for six years are usually predicted to be very very good.
