The other three quarterbacks on the roster are Chase Daniel, Sean Canfield and Luke McCown. Sure, it’s possible the Saints could go out and sign a veteran off the street. We’ll start exploring those possibilities if 4:01 p.m. ET Monday rolls around and Brees doesn’t have a contract or hasn’t signed his franchise tender.

Keep in mind... If a franchise tag is not signed which Brees explicitly says he will not do, and a long term contract is not signed which he wants to have, this is not over yet...

After 4PM EST on Monday July 16th Brees and the Saints can still agree to a 1 year deal worth any amount..... The price on the franchise tag, 3 million, 21 million, amount does not matter, what matters is that it can only be a one year deal.

This can happen before camp, before preseason, 3rd game of preseason, the morning of the game against Washington in regular season.... The night before the Superbowl in new Orleans... you see where I am going with this.......

Brees wants security, he knows more than most the risk of a one year deal....

If New Orleans does not budge before then, Brees will buckle. Condon will advise him to buckle.... They both know that if a one year deal is signed and Brees gets hurt Brees can kiss a long term worth what is on the table good bye and Condon can kiss his huge commission good bye.
