METAIRIE — With one notable exception, things appeared as normal as they could be when the New Orleans Saints reported to training camp Tuesday to start preparing for another season.

Ninety players checked in and attended a mandatory meeting Tuesday night in advance of conditioning tests on Wednesday and the first two practices Thursday at the team’s training facility on Airline Drive.

The only difference from previous years was that coach Sean Payton wasn’t there to greet the players for the first time since taking over in 2006.

It will be business as usual........well, as close to it with out coach Payton. I believe that Carmichael can create a game plan that consistently stays creative.
We don't have a feel for the defense yet under Spags. Hopefully, the defense will actually stop someone and give the ball back to Drew another time or two in a game.
I can't wait to get to training camp!

The beginning of it all. This is the start of my favorite time of year. Things will roll along quite quickly now and before you know it we will be playing the Skins. I ****ing love football season.

I hope someone is taping practice and meetings, and sending them to SP. I want his hand to stay on the pulse of his team in some way, shape or form. This has got to be killing him right now.

I dont. Thats how we got in trouble in the first place. Sean needs to abide by every rule the commish put down on him. That way when next year comes around and Payton comes back pissed off he can really stick it to Goodell. The last thing we need is more suspensions for Payton. Best thing he can do now is keep his nose clean. Let him unleash the wrath next year.

It's a good day. Take a deep breath, I smell football in the air.
