I think its the new term the Dumba$$ syndrome, i'm not quite familiar with it but search for it in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Cam Newton

Thats as absurd as someone saying the Saints would win it in 2009. Oh, wait...

Halo 07-25-2012 05:22 PM

In the age of parity in the NFL, who knows who will win year to year.
I do think Carolina has a better chance than the Browns.
I also think the Browns would lose 2 or 3 games if they competed in the SEC.....

Rugby Saint II 07-25-2012 05:56 PM

Cough......cough.......

The Dude 07-25-2012 08:15 PM

I do think they will be our main competition to win the South. I expect it to go down to the wire like it always does.

B005TED 07-25-2012 08:28 PM

I think that Ryan Kalil needs to GBAFSE imo.

ChrisXVI 07-25-2012 08:31 PM

I can't hate the guy for trying to get the fans excited about their team. Of course his promise isn't gonna happen but there's nothing wrong with getting the people hyped.

OldMaid 07-25-2012 10:33 PM

Fine. I sure don't want any networks, writers, predicting for the Saints. That kind of thing is kiss o' death.
First game has not been played. We are not even mid season. No one can make any predictions right now. Still, ok, go on Carolina, LOL!!!

Predictions like this are a bad omen.

I just want our Saints to ..... you know.....as they have been doing these fpast ew years....under the weekly radar. Just win.
Less coverage when they win, fine with me.
Let there be the hour long talk about Teeeee-Bowwwwwww. Peyton Manning. Dallas cowboys.
You know, the usuallly game recap and weekly spotlight stuff and talk.

QBREES9 07-25-2012 11:08 PM

Mindless dribble.

Jaja, we might compete with them to win the South. But the Superbowl-Cherries are hanging way too high for the Panters :P

How about predicting that predictions never work? ;-)

+5 for fandom, -5 for grounded in reality

There went 5 minutes of my life I will never get back

SmashMouth 07-26-2012 10:20 AM

Fantastic ... that really means they won't win it!

st thomas 07-26-2012 10:26 AM

as long as newton gets away with his running, he will be a tick on our ass. but one day somebody's gonna meet him head on. then there chances or out the window.

neugey 07-26-2012 11:18 AM

Hmmm ... when is Kalil's next random drug test?

... but therein lies the problem with having a 'running' QB, they run ... and while it is annoying to the defense and makes for exciting plays, passing is how you put points on the board in this league ... Vick/Philadelphia is a good example of what the Panthers are gonna' be if Cam relies too much on his run game.

I hope all the Saints players think they're going to win the Super Bowl too.

This is not prediction, this is knowledge ;) LOL

TheOak 07-27-2012 04:23 AM

I think the author meant SoupBowl

Beastmode 07-27-2012 06:51 AM

3 different schools and the only program Cam finished was a court-approved pre-trial diversion program for theft. Speaking of diversion, his whole QB career is one big diversion from actually playing QB. If they go to the SB it will have less to do with him and more to do with some very, very fortunate set of cirmcumstances.

SaintsBro 07-27-2012 06:56 AM

It would take a lot of home cookin' and "make up" calls from the refs against the Saints for the Panthers to win the division. You know they are not gonna let the Saints tackle him behind the line of scrimmage without a hankie flying.

... you should have been around the B&G Hockey Group during the NHL playoffs ... you'd have seen my prediction prowess in all it's glory, ... I was picking against the LA Kings every step of the way,.

mutineer10 07-27-2012 02:44 PM

Cam Newton threw Kalil's brains out the window with the laptop ...

Please say you're picking against us all the way!!!!

SaintsBro 07-27-2012 03:49 PM

People in Carolina who are so high on Cam Newton the "running QB" need to take a look at Payton's lifetime record against Michael Vick. I forget what it is exactly, the number, but it's like, crazy good. 6-1 or 7-1 or something like that. Payton had Vick's number, and seeing as we've always outscored Cam by a 2-1 margin, I think we will be alright a year without Sean.

CharityMike 07-27-2012 04:16 PM

They will win the SB when monkey's fly out my butt!!

pumpkindriver 07-28-2012 11:30 PM

Its nice to have optimism, but unless Cam can develop a steady presence in the pocket, his running will only get them to an occasional playoff appearance with an early exit, just like every other team in NFL history with a running QB.

The Dude 07-29-2012 12:14 AM

Cam reminds me a lot of Aaron Brooks.

Just some random thoughts.

First to Khalil: If you don't believe in yourself, then who else will believe in you? In July every player on each of the 32 teams wants to win the SB. At this point, they all have a "equal" chance of doing so. Can't fault the guy for being excited.

Newton: I'm not sure it's possible to be labeled a "running QB" and pass for 4000+ yards in this league. He's very different than Vick, especially the old Vick, who would take one read downfield, then run.

Hype: While Khalil is excited, he should have kept his mouth shut instead of taking out a full page ad in the local paper. Now's he's set up and expectation in the fans' heads that is unrealistic.

Random thoughts...

SFIAH

They went on to win the national championship. At the time, I thought Tebow's speech would go down as one of the all-time greats, at the same level of the "Win One for the Gipper" pep talk.

The main reason I decided to post this, however, has nothing to do with predictions. It gives me an opportunity to brag on the Rebels...and those opportunities are rare.

That year that Ole Miss beat Florida...it was the Gators only loss. Consequently, Ole Miss ended-up being the only team to defeat the national champs...and it wasn't the first time this happened. I believe the year was 1977 and Notre Dame was playing Ole Miss in Jackson. I was lucky enough to have been there. Ole Miss spanked them that hot Saturday afternoon, and yes, the Irish went on to win the rest of their games and the national championship that year.

So...Ole Miss has done it twice. One thing in particular that I remember about that afternoon in 1977 was that there was an Irish fan, an older gentleman, sitting in front of us in the endzone seats we had. He repeatedly moaned, "Egad, Notre Dame...do something!" I thought that was funny because to this day he is the only person that I have actually heard say "Egad!"
