Numbers don’t lie

Everyone has their opinions about the New Orleans Saints upcoming 2012 season, coming off a turbulent offseason like no other in NFL history.

The NFL mountain will be a tough climb, but this is the most talented Saints team have ever put on the field.

As long as Brees, Jimmy Graham, Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas and Marques Colston can stay healthy, look for the Saints to press or exceed the 500-point mark again. With an upgrade in quarterbacks on the Saints 2012 schedule, the Saints may need every one of those points to put up another NFC South Division banner.

I'm hoping for a 650 point season. I hope we show no mercy to every team we play. Don't hold back. Run up the score. Do everything that has to be dont to blow every team out with at least 40 point per game. That's what I want for Christmas this year.

Yea the QBs we face this year are hellu tough. Our defense is going to HAVE to step up. Our offense needs to produce as well as it did last year as well. i think this will be our hardest season yet. Even if we had Payton. 9-7 sounds good to me as long as that squeaks us into a wild card and we can turn it up from there. Hell the Giants did it last year why not us? Also last time the Giants won the SB we won the next year. Also there was another coincidence that I forgot what is.

I think our defense is going to surprise. 42-14 shall be a common margin of victory for us!

ANYTHING is possible in the NFL.
You never know which or how many of those teams/QB's above will not do well this season.

I think the Steelers won the Super Bowl after the Giants.

Lets look at how the Saints have faired against the QBs you listed since Payton/Brees came to New Orleans.

1.Peyton Manning:
2007 Lost 41-10 opening night @ Indy
2009 Won 31-17 in Super Bowl

2.Eli Manning:
2006 Saints won 30-17 @ NY (Giants did not run an offensive play on the Saints side of the field the entire game).
2009 Saints won 48-27 in the Superdome
2011 Saints won 49-24 in the Superdome

3.Aaron Rodgers:
2008 Saints won 59-21 in the Superdome
2011 Saints lost 42-34 on opening night @ Packers

4.Phillip Rivers
2008 Saints won 37-32 in London

5. Michael Vick
2006 Saints won 23-3, (Superdome re-opening game)
Saints won 31-13, (Vicks final game against Saints as a Falcon before dog-fighting conviction; Vick was injuried and did not play against Saints w/Eagles in 2009)

6. Cam Newton
2011 Saints won 30-27 & 45-17

None of those QBs have as good a team as the Saints right now; the only one I am even consider MAY be a loss is Packer game.

The Green Bay game is scary. They have a chip on their shoulders too.. Maybe not like the mountain we're carrying down here, but they sure were supposed to win it all last year...
