Sundays Hall of Fame game

I am sooooo ready for some fkn Saints Football... I am also torn about how excited I am about Sundays game.

I can see it now:

Saints take the field... Who-Dat... let get it on!

40 seconds later... Who in the hell are those players?

So my questions to you: How much play time do our starters get on Sunday? Do we go out there and play everyone to get a feel or do the New Orleans Saints take the field and dominate in this game to make a statement to Goodell and the NFL that they cant keep us down? This is out first chance with the spotlight only on us to show the world we will be victorious!

Depending on Chases hand, will Drew start or will a third stringer?

I think our entire starting defense should be on the field all preseason... They have new sh1t to learn, and they have new team mates to learn.

Who coaches? Do we go with Vitt, or prepare for the first 6 games and use who will be coaching then? "That guy" needs a break in period.

This is anything but a standard preseason for us, normally we are looking at set schemes, set coaching and who starts is the only question... This year there are multiple questions unanswered and a lot of exercises are needed to get them answered.

I realize this thread is nearly entire speculation but good discussion.. I have no doubt that 19-0 will be the answer, just curious about how we get there.

I'm definitely ready for some Sunday night football but I probably won't pay any more attention that I do for any of the other preseason games. I can say this. I'm going to be in New Orleans this weekend and I'm definitely going to vary my daily jogging path to take me around the SuperDome and through Championship Square.

On that note: On which side is the statue of Steve Gleason. It's up on the main concourse... right?

I think it's between Gate A and champion square from what I've seen...

In the picture, I could see the Macy's parking garage which makes me think that's where it is but isn't that where the Vietnam Memorial Statue is?

I honestly am making a best guess. If I head to the post office today or tomorrow I might pass by and see if I can eye-ball it.

Can't tell if that's where it was placed or dedicated.

I thought it was supposed to be NFC vs. AFC and we're playing a conference opponent. We also just played the game in like 2007.

What's the back-story again??

Mardigras9 08-01-2012 09:16 AM

The starters should come out and put 30+ on the board in the first quarter since I am sure all we will hear about is the bounty crap, then they can say this team is pissed off, watch out for them this season.

Thanks. I don't want to have to run all over the place to see it. The concourse itself is a half mile loop and I have to run a mile just to get there and still be able to run the mile back.... and in that heat!!

Looks from the pictures like the Gleason statute is on the west side of the Dome.

Rugby Saint II 08-01-2012 03:52 PM

This will look very much like a regular season game on offense. On defense we might look kind of shaky to start.

The Saints volunteered to play in the game.

Ok people please resist the "why are they playing so vanilla" comments and dont freak out if we look like **** during these games. Every year I see people panic over pre season games. ALSO for all of you guys who are concerend about our offenses rough start and interceptions thus far in camp. Last year our offense looked pretty bad in camp too and we all know how the rest of the year turned out.

Our resident "cliff jumper" is telling us not to freak out??? LOL now that's funny

hahaha... well diddly poo didnt come until at least the season opener.... before that, it was, "This is it.... we're gonna do it this year.... we already had the defense ....now we have a quarterback! Richard Todd will lead
us to the promise land."

Like I said, preseason..... the only time we used to have any hope..... hahahaha... theres your blast from the past for today.

I used to think that preseason was no way to judge how a season was going to go until the 2009 preseason. Even playing vanilla defense and trying not to show anything on offense, the Saints dominated every team and then took that dominance into the season.... and yes, I know we didn't go through preseason unbeaten but at the same time, it was easy to tell that team was special. I'll never say ignore the way we look in preseason again.

PacificGumbo 08-01-2012 06:31 PM

We can't afford to lose any this season. I say strong, steady and stay the course all the way to our final TD at the Super Bowl. It'll take a minute to regroup, but I say we are ready for the Cards. Hopefully we learned from the 49er's game and have expanded our O and tightened our D.

My Saints vintage gold tee is washed and folded and the Muffalettas will be ready. I'm looking foward to some more of that 60 points per game from last season, like only those Sexxay Saints can do.

breesfan27 08-01-2012 06:35 PM

4 days and counting, y'all! I'm sick of all the offseason bullsh*t! Bring on the 2012 season!

pumpkindriver 08-02-2012 12:04 AM

I can only hope to be near a sports bar with the NFLN on, otherwise I'll be listening to the radio feed on Sirius. That aside, I figure 1st qtr for the starters then go to the back ups and newbies. It'll be good to see/hear our guys in action again and while you cant draw too many conclusions from preseason, you can get a feel for where your team is. Especially when both sides have their 1st teams out on the field.

burningmetal 08-02-2012 03:46 AM

I've always hated pre-season, but this year, after all the offseason drama, I'm actually looking forward to watching a bunch of no names flying around and having no clue what they're doing, and also watching the starters play five minutes of not giving a crap... Yep, this year pre-season is a beautiful thing.

I'm not looking forward to the every 30 seconds referencing to bountygate that is sure to come. But if the Saints play the way we all expect this year, those people will learn to shut it.

DAMN I needed to add a poll.

How many times will we hear a reference to the following:

Bounty gate
Katrina
Microphones in the Dome

Oh yeah, I forgot about the wire tapping. So not only will we hear jokes every time our defense is on the field, but when our offense scores they'll probably say we're eavesdropping on the opposing defense.

As for the number of times we might hear it, I don't know, but I'd guess at least two times per quarter all season we'll hear a reference to one of the above options... That would be 128 times in the regular season alone, lol.

If we're dropping 40+ on teams; I could careless how many times I hear it... They either love us or love to hate us!

SaintsBro 08-02-2012 06:10 PM

Seriously I am not so sure if the wiretapping is going to get much play by commentators during the games this year, because if you remember, as soon as Benson and Loomis announced they were lawyering up to protect their names, and as soon as Lee Zurick outed the name of the person responsible for the accusations and a bunch of the real info on his termination by the Saints, the whole wiretapping story kind of went poof into the ozone. Mention it on the air at your own peril, I'd say. Benson's lawyers will be listening. Remember what happened to Sapp for saying uncorroborated stuff on television.

I do agree with everybody though. I'm kind of looking forward to being hated.

Ok, anyone else see the Cardinals offense #1 and their pass offense #1? Or am I simply imagining things?
