Whew!

Mine has been haunting me for years. I had it fixed a couple of years ago and it still bothers me after any serious exertion.

I wonder if this will change the number of CBs the Saints had planned on keeping on the final roster. It seems there are a few guys that are battling for that position. Maybe they'll keep one more and let the battle continue on into the season.

And if they do keep an extra CB, which position will lose a guy?

maybe now that Sean is on sabbatical we'll drop down to 5 TE's

Don't we have 2 fullbacks still on the roster? and 2 kickers...

SmashMouth 08-02-2012 12:13 PM

OK.... who is out there at CB?

FinSaint 08-02-2012 12:21 PM

Not bothered one bit.

The season Spags and Flajole had last year with the Rams' secondary and how they overcame all those difficulties to have an above average secondary - over a dozen DBs put on IR - the Saints' secondary will be much improved.

I had that same surgery before. I was good as new in 3 1/2 weeks. And I was far from physically conditioned.

Under the new CBA if worse came to worse we could IR Greer and bring him back later on in the year. Hopefully they caught it early enough for it not to be a problem. Seems like he got up to Philly fast, and they diagnosed it early so that helps. Think he will be fine.

saintsfan1313 08-02-2012 01:15 PM

same surgery that pretty much ended Shockey's effectiveness correct? Hate to be a downer, but he will not be the same CB afterwards....

SmashMouth 08-02-2012 01:52 PM

video update here

Turbo Saint 08-02-2012 01:57 PM

yea this is never good, but all we can do is wait at this point - certainly scares me, though.

Shokeys was mis diagnosed as a groin pull first and not treated for a long while and he played on it for a long time and made it worse. The key to these injuries are catching them early as is the case with Greer.

LBCutta 08-02-2012 04:19 PM

I've had groin surgery from playing football and It was about a 2 week recovery period really and that 3rd week is just precautionary. Its really considered pretty minor in the football world....especially if it happens before preseason even starts. Not much to worry about here

FinSaint 08-02-2012 04:24 PM

Ivory had sports hernia surgery combined with a foot surgery (Lisfranc) late in the preseason last season, but he could've come off the PUP in week 7 when he was first eligible to do so, if the Saints would've needed him to.

So, in the case of Greer, I totally believe the diagnose that he'll be ready when the regular season starts pending any complications.

burningmetal 08-02-2012 04:26 PM

I'm not worried about his recovery from this, but I am always worried about him in general. He's always pulling something, and now this. Hope he can get healthy and stay healthy.

They have some talent though on that Rams team...

They were starting 3rd and 4th string guys as the #1s and #2s, so I don't think it's all about the talent they have in that team, since they went out and got some of those guys during the season from f.e. teams' PSs.

Get well Jabari
