Brees: It's like Sean Payton's in 'solitary confinement'

Drew Brees moves forward on a new season without Sean Payton, but the New Orleans Saints quarterback admits it's not going to be easy.

"Yeah, that's hard. He's my head coach. We've got a great player-coach rapport, professional relationship," Brees told NFL Network's Marshall Faulk in an exclusive sitdown that airs Sunday on NFL Network. "But I would say 50 percent of our conversations are football. And the other 50 percent are life. Talked about family, talked about other things.

"I miss that. It's kinda like they took your friend and put him in solitary confinement."

It's a damn shame Drew can't just call him up and talk about non-football stuff

Prepaid anonymous cell phones from the gas station!! If it works for criminals, i doubt old roger could nail them for it.
Of course, Roger doesn't actually have to prove anything... He just has ti proclaim it.

I love how Drew is really hammering on this Sean Payton theme in interview after interview -- he is showing the world the absurdity of the punishment. I've realized it's on purpose, and he's orchestrating this, he is trying to turn public opinion against Goodell so that cooler heads will pressure Rodger to give us our coach back for a few games. You can tell Drew deliberately wants to make Goodell look bad with this. The coaches have no appeal, no union, so the only outlet left is public opinion, and Drew hasn't given up....

But it's great to see how he's been pretty consistently playing up the human side of Payton, so that he's a person in people's minds, not this abstract evil thing or a total villain. And it seems like NOBODY is out there is talking about the personal or family or friendship side of Gregg Williams, which to me speaks a lot about character and who's really guilty and who's more innocent, who's been punished fairly and who has not.

I try to find a silver cloud not in everything but in what seems like a no win situation because some times ... just some times great things can come of them.. Desperation and absence can cause growth periods in humans that would not generally happen under normal circumstances.

Sean Payton is the clear cut leadership of the New Orleans Saints.. No one questions that... Not even the players.

Sean Payton is the genius behind the New Orleans Saints, no one questions that either... not even the players...

Light can only be seen in the absence of a brighter light.

I have a feeling, we are going to see some brilliance that we have never seen before this season. NO I am not saying Payton will or can be replaced... However there will be new people making decisions with out his guidance. This will create opportunities for the cream to rise...
