Smith said he suffers from asthma and forgot to take his medicine. Haslett said he was unaware of the player's asthmatic condition.

"If he's got asthma, then he needs to take care of it, because I'm not his damn doctor," Haslett said. "He'll take care of it and he'll be on the field, because I'm not taking care of it. But he better take care of his conditioning also."

Asked if he saw the qualities that justified Smith's first-round selection, Haslett replied: "Most of the time, he was hunched over, so not necessarily. But you can see that he can run and he's got all the physical skills."

There is no way this kid has asthma and the coaching staff didn\'t know about it. Considering Haslett\'s subtle swipe at Smith regarding him \"...taking care of his conditioning...\" I am inclined to believe that Smith may have been embarassed by his performance (and like a lot of young men) made an excuse for it. That \"asthma\" remark might haunt him for a good while in the locker room.

Poor ole Will\'s just suffering from an adjustment to the humidity. Isn\'t Louisiana one of the worst places in the country to live if you have asthma?

I like to hear Haz curse these young guys a bit during TC. Maybe he realizes his soft and gentles are on the chopping block this season and wants these guys to play to their potential.

I\'ve spent the last 2 months questioning the wisdom of old guys going to grad school.

I\'m continually stunned that the kids can go drink beer til they puke 3 times a week and still make better grades than me. Go figure.
